Supercharger Install

Well all'

I finally took the plunge and started the supercharger job today and so far,it's been a piece of cake.As you can tell by the pictures, Iv'e got it all apart down to where I'm beginning to install the new parts.
The only thing that didn't go as planned is mounting the new fuel pump.I previously installed the dynatech longtube headers and the drivers side collector pipe crosses at the cross member just above where the pump is to be mounted and of course they touch! I wound up discarding the mounting clamps that came with the kit and used two real big industrial wire ties to secure it to the cross member. This gave me a full 3" clearance to the exhaust pipe. The rest of the hookup went as planned.I did take the precaution of covering the pump and the ties with heavy aluminum 3" tape as heat sheilding.I also covered the rubber fuel line. I hope you like the pictures. Well sorry, the pictures won't upload for some reason.

Hey fella's: Been talking with Jim G about power upgrades and I guess I'll jump into the Supercharger upgrade as well. I've been holding off pending more info on torque management and traction control and the like. I added a 100 shot nitrous about a year or so ago. I'm also getting ready to put on LS1 ported heads w/ roller rocker 1:85 and Dynatech headers system. I guess I'll do this all at once and try to figure out how I'm going to get all the A/F tuning/data logging done together. Any words of wisdom before I start spending some major bucks on a supercharger (and probably trans upgrade)? Oh by the way anyone know the combustion chamber/runner size on the 5.3 heads? Thanks!

spook - The AFR heads with 61cc Chambers, cam and Supercharger should do the trick so long as you do the exhaust, transmission and rear axle. Give me a call and I can go over things with you.

Ok thanks: I'm over in Spain right now and should be heading back stateside around Jun/Jul. I'll touch base with you then and have a conversation. I have the LS-1 heads and I think they are 64CC combustion chambers with 215cc int and 80 cc ext runners. Also have heavy duty springs installed on them and I took a great deal of time porting them. Have Dynatech with Jet hot coating waiting for me at the in laws house. Looking forward to making the beast run well. Very concerned about T/C and Torque Mgmt issues though.

53wanabe: Read my own supercharger install thread from a few weeks ago to see how Randy and I handled that same fuel pump mounting issue.

Phoenix Transmission was the first to appreicate how we did it, when they needed to remove that transmission crossmember in order to remove the tranny!
