Surging??????

OK for the last three months my 05 has been surging. At speed on the road, it can be on cruse or by foot throttle, the engine will surge three or four times. I've had at my service dept twice and again today. Anybody had this trouble or have any ideas to offer as to a fix????????????? Thanks Mike

Mike, is this an automatic or stick? Do you notice the tach moving up and down in rpm when this occurs?

That was just of the symptoms mine had before they replaced the computer. It hasn't recurred since the replacement in mid July some 2500 miles ago.

I thought it may be the converter clutch cycling on and off but if the tach stays steady then that couldn't be it.

Took my 06 in for same thing. A/C always on here anyways, This dealership owns several others including Nissan. Mechanic states, newer car computers w/ fly by wire throttle bodies are compensating for drag by a/c. It's not as smooth as it's supposed/designed to be. I'm sure he's just guessing and it's the, "it's NORMAL routine".

My 05 Automatic does the same thing, it seems that it only does it when the temp is at or above 210. Air on or off, same thing.

Short Term. Results

SSexY is recovering nicely. I drove her thru town and out five miles and back on I35, MPG is back up B/T 19 and 20 MPG, all seems well. I will post long term results after our return from Estes Park. Thanks to all who helped with the fix. Mike
