Swapping the speakers

I'm sure this has been covered before, but I missed it.
For those of you out there that have changed the speakers in the SSR, how did it work out for you ? Were there any issues ? I know the Bose have an amp somewhere in there I guess ? Was that removed as well ?

And ..... does changing out the speakers and adding a different amp cancel out the E.Q. of the stock radio ?
