The problem with my tail lights was a special type of grease that keeps the sparks from arcing that caused the blinking of the tail lights when the brake pedal was depressed. It also caused the one tail light to appear out. Finally fixed it! The took the whole thing apart back there and put her back together. PIc her up this afternoon. Got the new window and part too! Thank you Priority Chevrolet in Chesapeake, VA. They also sold every SSR they had in stock at MSRP.

Avitar that is custom has to be 150 X 150 pixels in size and in JPEG format. Took a digital photo of the truck and then resized it to fit the format this site requested. Edited the background in Adobe Photoshop. If you reach the correct number of posts, email me and I will touch up your photo for you and email it back. Then all you have to do is set her up in the User CP menu under , Edit Avitar. Image can be smaller as is mine, but can't be bigger than 150 x 150 pixels. I can shrink her down for ya too. No prob.

The mechanic said my connections and grounds were good on the tail lamps and on the lamp assembly. They applied the Dielectric Lubricant to the socket on the Lamp Assembly. All is working good now. Also, they ordered that cheap little piece of plastic on the drivers seat front that fell off for me. Someone else on the forum mentioned that theirs had come off as well. Apparently the diagonal metal clip that slips into a diagonal slot broke off. If you reach down on the front right of your seat and squish the seat back a bit, you can see what I am talking about.
Another guy on the web with an eletronics degree or two suggested the following on this type of electrical problem. I thought I would share it with you since it is such valuable info.
The dielectric grease is a band-aid. It should not be needed on a properly working system. The bulb is probably not direct grounded to the bodywork at the bulb location, as the bulb is typically twisted into a plastic housing. One of the two wires from the bulb connector will run to a ground ring terminal somewhere probably on the frame in the general location of the lamp.
--------------------The product you should be using is a unique type of contact enhancer and lubricant called Stabilant 22.
This chemical, which is applied to electrical contacts, greatly enhances the connection and lubricates the contact point; it is much more effective than conventional contact cleaners or lubricants.
Stabilant 22 is a liquid-polymer semiconductor; it behaves like liquid metal and conducts electricity in the presence of an electric current. In the presence of a large voltage gradient, the polymer becomes conductive. The substance also fills the air gaps between the mating surfaces of two items that are in contact, making the surface area of the contact larger and also keeping out oxygen and other contaminants that can oxidize and corrode the contact point.
This chemical is available in several forms. Stabilant 22 itself is the concentrated version, whereas Stabilant 22a is a version diluted with isopropanol in a 4:1 ratio. An even more diluted 8:1-ratio version is sold in many high-end stereo and audio shops under the name Tweek. Just 15ml of Stabilant 22a sells for about $40, whereas a liter of the concentrate costs about $4,000!
Stabilant 22 is fairly expensive, but very little is required in an application, and nothing else has been found to be as effective in preserving electrical contacts. (NASA uses the chemical on spacecraft electronics.) An application of Stabilant can provide protection for up to 16 years, according to its manufacturer, D.W. Electro-chemicals.

On the way home today, two people told me my left tail light was out, AGAIN!!!! I just got it back from the dealer and thought it was fixed! They need to check and make sure this sucker is grounded properly at the socket to the metal frame!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will wait till my seat part comes in and have it all done then, but man, I sure have had this baby to the dealer for a lot of probs.
This is definately getting old. Surely someone else has had this problem? Why me? I love this truck but hate this problem. Can you imagine every other car telling you your tail lights are out on your new vehicle? After you have had it to the dealer several times to get it fixed? Can we say "Ground Wire?" Please fix my SSR you guys?
What was that number again? I seem to have misplaced it? The dealer called and said my seat part was in so I will get her back to the dealer AGAIN this week and have them look at grounding the left rear tail light properly as she needs to be. Ya basically have to use a wire and ground it to the frame somewhere where there is metal. Hopefull this will fix it. Surely someone else out there has this same problem? I can't believe after all those years looking at new Impalas and Monte Carlos with tail lights out that I am now in their shoes too and that this problem has not been recognized and fixed on GM vehicles!!!!!! This should not be a news flash to GM!!!!!!!! Fix me please!!!!!!!!!!! I am not ticked off at the dealer...they have been great, but this manufactural defect is not a good thing.....
You know how I got Chevy to call me was to go online fill out the owner info and emailed them they called and emailed me back asap..... I would have to find my paper with that # if you try this and it doesn't work. I hope the ground fixes it all.
Dealer just called and said the SSR is ready for pickup. They found the ground to be good and ended up replacing the hazzard flasher. That probably was the cause of all this because I was often having to turn off the turn signal idicator manually. I thought that odd but did not think much of it. I hope this is the end of my brake light problem. I think I will just scream if I hear another person on the road tell me my brake light is out again!!!!!
I guess it good to know you had this problem if anyone else comes up with it we will know what to do first. Though I am sorry you had to suffer so that we all won't. I will keep my fingers crossed that is stays fixed for a long, long time.

I really expected a lot of probs. with this new rig from the get go and basically, the probs. have not been all that big a deal and those of us that have them and report them to the General are helping make a much better car for the next year! I have been invited to the Beachcomber Corvette autocross on May 9th (not sure about that date) and am looking forward to that one. I love going there just to do fun runs in their Z06's. Someday, I am gonna get Kris one of them!
