The SSR has a tendency to overheat when in stop and go traffic or when traveling at slow speeds. You may have a problem with your Radiator Cooling Fan. Mike in Arizona has a Neat new Radiator Cooling Fan that replaces the OEM Fan. He also has a Pusher Fan setup that mounts in the front of the Radiator for additional Cooling. Other Vender's on this Forum also sell after Market Fans. Mike is at simpleengineering.com.
You can use the search Button at the top of this page to find a resolution to your problems.

Cabrioman -
Your system may be operating normally. If the air conditioning is off, the main fan goes onto low speed at 226 and then off at 219. If the temperature continues to rise, the main fan shifts from low to high at 235 and then back to low speed at 226. This would account for your temperature excursions.
My Auxiliary Fan Kit is designed to independently turn on at 210. This usually stops the temperature variations before they get started.
The system also turns on any time the computer tells the main fan to turn on. This will assist the air conditioning system.
The Auxiliary Fan Kit also will turn on without the engine running. This pushes some of the heat out of the engine compartment and has additional benefits.
You can go to my web site and read the instructions in the "Downloads" section for all the details of the system operation, including the schematics.
Regards,
Mike

I also believe that the air deflection selector needs to be in the posistion showing the air to be deflected to the floor and the upper vents to make the recirculate option work correctly.

I have a 2004 and it just got over heated. I think either fan is not working or problem with fuse. I was going to take it to dealer but would like to do some checking on my own before doing that. Would aprreciate any help. Redwingflier. P.S. there is not a real Chevy dealer in Silver City, New Mexico. It closed down.

Chevy Parts department will give you a price of over $600.00 for the original OEM Fan.

I checked out today fan is not coming on at all. I have two questions one can it just be the switchs that needs to be replaced or is better to just fix the problem and replace it with Mikes fan kit? 2nd question will Mike's fan kit easy to do? My SSR has 9789 miles. You would think the dealer would fix it but I doubt it. Thanks for the help. Redwingflier
