Temperture gage

Have anyone ever had their temp gage flucuate really high but never ran hot? I checked antifreeze. Does that sound like a cooling fan switch or thermostat? Any suggestions let me know. THANKS

Sounds more like a flaky gage.

Can you define 'really high'? Could be normal operation between low and high speed fan settings.

Normal temps for your 2003 should be below the 210 mark. I would call it about 195-200. The main fan will come onto low speed at 226 and to high at 235. There is no temperature switch controlling the fan. The computer has control.

If your truck is warmed up (above 180) and the A/C is turned on, you should have the main fan running at low speed all the time. If you can't get the fan to turn on when the A/C is on and the engine running, you have experienced a main fan failure.

A failed main fan shows the most when you are in stop-and-go traffic below 30mph. Thats when it will start getting hot. Once you are moving, the natural airflow wioll cool it off and get you back into the "normal" zone.......
