Tilt steering wheel clicking
I started a post about 8 weeks ago and i'm closing in on the problem with my steering. The reason i'm starting a new thread is because i thought no one would see my comments on the old one.
I just got my car back after they installed a lower steering column shaft and an upper shaftl. So i've driven my car for a couple of hours and most of the clicking has gone away and the steering is much tighter. After seeing what the upper shaft looked like (two sections of shaft connected by a universal joint) i thought that maybe by changing the position of the steering wheel (i usually have the wheel tilted down) up one notch i might see a difference and i did. No more clicking noise. I know someone out there will respond and tell me to keep it in the upper position but it is not very comfortable even though the clicking goes away. My next question is, is there a universal joint inside the tilting mechanism that may be worn as well causing the clicking noise when i turn the wheel?
Has anyone has any experience with this?
Thanks.
