Tires have flat spots in them

I purchased my 2005 SSR 3 weeks ago from a local dealer. According to the paperwork that they showed me, the car had been sitting about 20 months. I purchase it with 30 miles on it, but about 6 of those miles were part of my test drive.

I just brought my SSR in for some minor stuff (missing cup holder hinge on passenger side, paint chip, intermittent ABS light and a vibration on the tires at 50mph or higher).

They are keeping the car overnight because of the paint and the ABS problem. They also told me that the tires have flat spots on them and said that they are asking GM what to do about it One thing they said is that it might fix itself by driving it. In 3 weeks, I have put on 1900 miles and then I brought it in.

I was wondering if anybody out there knows what I should do about this? The service and sales department have already consented to change the coolant and oil.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Might start with having them perform a road force balance. Cleaned up mine.
If that still doesn't do it.I'd have them replace the tires.

My second truck sat for 16 months. After 500 miles the two front tires were replaced under warranty, no questions asked.

It sounds like the ABS problem caused the ABS brake's to not work and someone locked up the brake's. I did this on a Vet once and it made flat spotts on the tires that never went away. I sold the car 10K miles later and they were still there.

I just spoke to the service department and they will be keeping my SSR for one more day to replace the ABS controller. I asked what the status of the tires were and the reply was: They asked the sales manager about it and he hasn't gotten back to them yet. When I asked about replacement under warranty, he said that they couldn't because it was not a defect. Anyway, I am still waiting on the final decision.

Typical GM response
