trailer hitch refurb

Bought a hitch through this forum and when I got it discovered quite a bit of rust around the bar itself. Has anyone tried to dismantle to have powder coated or tried painting this piece?

Since the hitch insert has a textured finish anyway helping to provide a bond, I would take some steel wool and clean off all of the visible rust. Then I would paint it with aluminum colored Rust-oleum oil based protective enamel paint. The paint code number is #7715. This should be a pretty good color match to what the existing hitch is. Just my thoughts on this subject.
