UNhappy days

Door Handles and Alternator (Generator, as GM calls it)
Took mine in today, for both problems. The dealer wouldn't hear of my suggesting there are TSBs concerning both, so it was in the shop all day while they tried to "adjust" the pulleys for the squeal and "tweak" the handles to operate better. When nothing had been accomplished by mid-afternoon, I suggested once more that there are, in fact, actual service bulletins addressing both issues, they decided to check. Suddenly they now had to order a new "generator" and both new handles and handle kits. Of course the driver's side handle came up on their computer as "not available" so I don't know what they'll do about that. I guess we'll wait for the parts and take it back in, operating the door through the side window, as necessary since it now does not work at all. Must have been that last "tweak".

Thank you, Frank. I 'll wait to see what happens this week, and if it's not resolved I'll do just that. I'm only 50 miles from Denver, so there are other dealers around.

Why do you own an SSR if you can't stand GM products?

I just got my door handles and clutch fixed by the dealer.
I found a trick that seems to work quite well. I searched this site for the TSBs and showed up with them in hand. My dealer treats me awesome by the way. It's hard for them to understand how the customer can come in knowing more than they do about a vehicle. They have never been on this awesome site.
For me there was no pissing match because I just don't give them the chance. I've found it very affective.

That's exactly right. You have to bring the TSB with you and give it to the service writer when they write up the job. You can't talk to them about stuff like that, for some reason it's really hard for them to look up the tsb's without the number.

I called my dealer and gave my service guy the tsb number over the phone along with the part number.. I should be able to take it in this week and get my new handle installed..

A good working relationship with your dealer is kneeded while owning one of these trucks..

Good Luck with yours!

Jim,

If your dealer had done a good job in servicing your truck for the door handle replacement issue, you would not have to to take it back in for the passenger door fix. The TSB clearly calls for replacing both sides. Yeah sometimes this forum sounds like a bunch of grumpy old men,,,but, GM and many dealers could do a much better job for us as owners. My $.02.

This is already old. Your opinions are of no value. There are always going to be dealerships in all makes and models that simply don't measure up. Just like there are people that don't quite measure up. What do you have to add that is actually constructive?

But his comments are true.... Oh I forgot, you are not allowed to say anything bad about the SSR or GM here...

Haven't we already gone down this road 20 or 30 times? If you don't like your truck get rid of it,.. if you don't like GM buy something else.. but don't come on here and contnue to hijack peoples threads for your own agenda of continuing to bash someone or something. Its old. And how does that help someone with a problem exactly?

ie; Something is wrong with my truck
Welcome to the wonderful world of GM and Chevrolet ownership treatment!

ie; My door does not work what should I do
Welcome to the wonderful world of GM and Chevrolet ownership treatment!

Now you tell me, how does this help? I am not going to argue with you. if you want to start a thread and just bash GM then that is your business, but the continuing of the the same story is not helping.

Yeah - this comment was!

The only other new GM I had bought before my SSR was my '98 Saturn Wagon - and due to t
