Unusual DIC Message

Was slowing for a stop sign doing about 35mph and moved auto tranny selector to "3" then "2". Heard a Bong sound and the DIC said "Reduce Speed". Almost seems like the PCM thought I overrevved the engine...RPM's never went above 3K or so. Didn't do it again, so probably just one of those SSR quirks. Thought I'd put it out here in case somebody else might be interested. This is a 2006 Automatic.

Smile I noticed that too.

I had the same thing happen when I decided to try "shifting" from 2 to 3 and hold it a little bit faster than normal while not really over revving the engine. All in town driving. I saw the same thing.

You probably bumped the top down button when you shifted and that would tell the DIC to warn you to reduce speed (I had this happen once)

I always shift mine up and down and I've never had that happen.

I only downshift at reasonable speeds. Usually only use 3d and 2nd. Didn't they build it and put those positions there to use??

BTW...Still hoping to get together up there in VT one of these days!

Roger,
Pick a nice sunny Oct. day ( leaves are turning) and send me an E-mail. I don't know much about the Auto. shifting. That was just what I was told. Maybe someone can step in on this.
