Thanks for the pic....it will help me show the dealership where the water may be leaking in. I haven't heard from them today.....hubby's calling this time

I'll show my Steve this later tonight, I'm sure he can fabricate something for me if needed.

With all of this talk of water leaks in the cab, I just went out into the garage and created a similar cover for the opening under the black plastic windshield base cover.

I cut off a four inch section of an old mud flap and used furnace flue heat tape to tape it into place. It looks very similar to cruzned's solution.

I have not had this water leak yet, but if this added cover is a "solution" to the issue, I hope to never see that type of leak with my SSR.

Good luck HotRodGirl!

Funny
I’ve had my SSR for 2 ½ years now…..driven it in a few rainstorms without incident. Why did it break loose now?…..who knows.

It’s probably not a bad idea to take extra precaution…..just incase you are stuck in a heavy downpour too!!

I can’t picture myself without an SSR…..but I know I don’t want one that leaks

HRG,

My 05 SSR had a BIG time cargo bed cover leak. I posted my solution to that one on this site and when I switch to my 06 SSR it too had the very same (if not worse) cargo bed cover leak along with the leak in the front roof panel rear seal.

Our SSRs are just like kids, you have to struggle through the bad times to enjoy the really wonderful times.

Unhappy leak

Mine leaks both doors. Down at the bottom, near the rear of the door seal, on the plastic trim just inside of the seal, near bottom rear of seats. Let me know what the fix ends up being Deb so i can go armed to my dealer.

Under-dash water leak

HRG,

My 2004 struggled with a passenger side underdash leak that started about a year. I first discovered it after washing it; then it started happening during rain storms. The dealer I bought it from tried fixing it several times, having the vehicle for upwards of 3 weeks total. I even corresponded with Chevrolet to no avail.

Then I took it to a different dealer that a friend suggested and half a day later it was fixed. Here is what it was:

A piece of sealer used at the factory to seal sheetmetal joints broke loose and lodged in the HVAC plenum drain, partially blocking it. When there was a lot of water, it overflowed into the HVAC blower and dripped down under the dash. Removing it fixed the problem even in a deluge.

I spoke with them yesterday.........Hubby's going over today to talk with the manager on exactly what they have done so far and the process they took.

I'll let you know as soon as I know......keeping in mind I may have to drive it in a few more rain storms to verify that I have no further problems.

Exclamation Question

Steve and I have been experiencing a flapping noise coming from the front tire of the SSR usually after the tires warm up with a light vibration in the steering wheel. We think the tire is out of balance or out of round. We do not hear it on the passenger side.

The dealership took it out yesterday and can't duplicate the noise. They want me to let a tech drive it home tonight to see if he can duplicate it after it warms up. I'm picky about who drives my and not sure I want to do this. They won't do anything about it until they can verify it.

Would you and or is there any other way this can be tested?

Deb,
I would maybe want the guy that works on the Corvette's at the dealership to test drive it if possible.

this may be too late, but I would just have them take the wheel off and put it on a balancer.....even if I had to pay for it.....no reason for your SSR to be kept over night.

Fixes

In the shop for eight days and here's what happened

1) Leak on Retractable Top
They reinstalled & realigned the folding top weatherstrip. Steve did tell me they followed Fuzzy's fix on that.

When I washed the today.........no water was inside

2) The cowl & HVAC area
(Passenger side leaking water under dash and on to floor boards)
They unplugged the cowl drain and we were told that they sealed up around the HVAC. My Steve will be checking this out to be sure.

The only way I can test this is by getting caught in another downpour...you can bet your sweet Boop......I'll be looking for one

3) Passenger Door
Steve did tell me they worked on this......toying with it till they got it right. It now shuts properly and the window engages in the rubber seal nicely!!!

They will not replace the carpet for me. I have to fight GM over that I will be putting in a complaint. In the meantime....... being sure that I have no more water leaks before installing my new carpet!!!!

All I can do now is drive it and test it in the rain........

Wish me luck

Glad to hear you got it back and enjoy your "sick leave" day tomorrow. Just don't drive it near the office around lunch time as they may report to the boss.

To test this you could fill up a bucket of water and dump it all at once.
