Water Sloshing Noises

Hey guys, I hear water sloshing somewhere behind the seats after my '04 has sat outside. Is this rain trapped in the top compartment? Are there provisions for relief or just evaporation? Thanks for any info. peace Bud

Did you open the top compartment and look down there for water? Maybe the drain holes are plugged up with leaves or something?

Good Luck Bud

Whether there are holes for drainage in there or not, you should not be getting water in there.

Check under the seats for partially filled beers...? What a waste.

Rgtrough: This is serious. No water should be getting in ANYWHERE. Water INSIDE the vehicle anywhere creates the potentail for big corrosion and electrical problems. You want this diagnosed under warranty and fixed asap.

The hydraulic fluid is viscus and in a very small vessel , I highly doubt that you are hearing the sound from the fluid in the vessel. Please post what the findings are however.

Wasn't there an old thread about water inside the doors, or am I thinking of Corvettes?

It can happen if the drains are plugged.

How many drains are in the door? And where are they located?

Wildcat66: I haven't lookd specifically at the door bottoms on the SSR, but door drain holes are always located in the very bottom surfaces of the doors (what would be above the rocker panels when the doors are closed). Often, they are right in the seam between the outside sheetmetal and the inner sheetmetal at the bottom of the door.

They can become plugged with debris if you don't clean and dry these surfaces when doing a car wash. That's why you see the guys at commercial car washes drying the back, bottomn, and front edges of each door - it ensures that no dirt accumulates there, especially in rainy or snowy weather.

If a hole does get plugged or partially plugged, you can clean it out with GENTLE use of coat hanger wire. Something plastic but sitff would be even better.

If they ARE plugged, when you clean them, the water and dirt sometimes coming gushing out of the door! That means you waited much too long to clean them, and have probably corroded the inside of the door sheetmetal and the window mechanisms.

Did you get new larger tires or have they been rotated or different rims put on your SSR? When they put my 20" tires on the front i noticed a swishy noise. Tires dragging on wheel wells... ???
