Well will it run 12's, 2 days to find out

Well the track opens in 2 days and the weather report says clear and 67 so if they have enough stick'em sound like a good day to see if the changes I made will push this big thing through the 1/4 in the 12's or not, Also have that 05 LS2 GTO I have to try and beat after the mods he made in the off season

That is going to be hard to do, I am going to try a run with the t/c on and see if the engine bog beats out the trie spin, Super charger, Headers, Hi-flow cats, FlowMaster cat back, Rpm bullet proof tranny with Vigilante 9'' t/c, 1.85 Comp rockers with full rpm kit, Will add something else if I have time

You may want to lower with just the rear spring. I just did it and cannt believe how much better it will launch.

You should be able to break 12's real easy with that setup and a good tune.

Have changed the rear springs, Nice tune with a laptop, Still feels good and will retune with other changes later, Have went to a cooler plugs to and green fllter, I will run pump gas

When I got the truck I hated to take anyone for a ride, A real dog, All show and no go so I think I was about the 2nd one on here to add a super charger, Still remember how good it sounded and run, I run it with just the super charger and was running 14 flat Best 13.97 @ 97 mph, Added the headers hi-flow cats run
13.70's@100mph, Added the FlowMaster cat back, Took off the torque manement and tune but the traction problem started run 13.50's@100, Tranny started slipping so had RPM do his thing and real traction problem, Run 13.20@103 on pump gas, Added 160 degree stat, Didn't run any better and mileage droped to 19mpg so put the stock stat back in and set the fan turn on back to stock, Added Comp 1.85 rockers with push rods and high rpm kit, Added cooler plugs, No runs with rockers and plugs

You should be getting real close at this point. Brake drag it in the lights to about 2000 rpms to preload the suspension and then drop the brake and let the weight transfer before you get into it all the way and it should launch pretty good.

The way it is on the first day in the stageing lane and then a wide open run, I might run out of gas with 2 gal. I know the lighter you can get but it is a long way to get gas so I run about 1/2 to 3/4 tank, I will run a 1/10th or 2 slower than to have to tell the wife we are out of gas

I always took a 5gal can of gas with me, and left it in the pit with someone. Or two can,s if I needed it.

I'am not sure but I think a gallon of gas weigh's 9lb. One more thing, if your bracket racing you might want to read this link.

Well if I had a little more room but heck just do it for the fun of it, Just test and tune night, You can run bracket if you want or just keep testing or running your friends, Me and that GTO tries to get in 3 runs with each other, I am having more fun racing now than I did back in the old days, Don't need a book, I have raced something since I was 13 and I am old as dirt now, Had a rail, B/Altered, Run M/P bike, Flat track motorcycle, In the 70's and 80's run NHRA Super Stock

Well the best run I ever made was in 1966. In my 65 Mustang from Houston to Laredo Texas in 3hrs and 15 min. LOL

Well I made 4 test runs, The first one to see how the track was and it was pretty bad, There was some hot cars doing wheel stands so a lot of it had to be my tires and the the torque of my engine, I pulled to the line pushed it up to 2500 rpms backed it back to 2000 light comes on I get in the gas, Rear tires go up in smoke, I get out of it ease back in it tires go up in smoke so I say the heck with it I will do a full 1/4 mile burn out, Well some place in 3rd it wants to come around with me and my heart is still beating pretty good, I ran a 17.40@97 mph, I tried another run and had to shut it off, No more 1/4 burnouts, So I put the t/c on came off the line at 2,000 it starts to smoke the engine gogs, It starts to break lose again it bogs, I hit 2nd. it bogs, I hit 3rd it bogs, I run 13.20@103, Next run I come off the line at idle one bog, 2nd one bog, Don't feel it bog in 3rd, Turned 13.10@104, Wife says I am cold let's go so that was it, I didn't get to run the 12 I wanted but I think 13.10 running with the t/c on isn't to bad, When the track heats up some I will have no problem getting in the 12's, So you have a big heavy truck that can put open header race cars out of the race, Most everyone like to see it run, You can drive home at 21 mpg, You know that SSR is a pretty nice truck, I will post how low it goes in the12's later

No sometimes my wife takes the camcorder but not this time, They have test night every Wed. but I might even skip the first one and let them get the track in better shape, Wasn't worth it my truck is covered with stick'em and I didn't see them using that much, I have a video of a burn out at the strip but to big to put on here

Make sure that next time you go, try to go around the water box and only turn the tires about 2 or 3 times to clean them off and then stage. The hotter you get the radials the worse they will grip too. The water caught in the tread will make traction at the line impossible too.

Well 6speed that was the biggest part of my problem, Most the time I go I try and get around the water and I like to try and do a dry burn but it rained the day before that and mist on and off that morning, Going up the lane you couldn't miss the water, Sometimes you had to set in it while you waited and then you get to the staging lane, To tell the honest truth I could come off the line at idle and do a full 1/4 mile burnout if it would stay on the track, I did the 1/8 mile cause I was a little upset at the track but the people liked it, They don't understand, They think the SSR is one bad truck, The weather was great for a good 12sec run, Cool and damp but the track wasn't, If I didn't have t/c I couldn't have run, Like I said I think the SSR did pretty good and no problem going in the 12's

Guys, help me on this. To me 104 mph seems a bit slow for 13.10s.

Double-L, what RPMs were you running in the lights?

Right around 52 to 5500 I think will look again next time, 104 is in the ball park for a bad 13.10 run, I run a guy and run 13.19 at 103 and beat him and he run a high 106 mph, When I run all I look at is my 60 ft. time, Playing with the SSR I will look at the et cause a guy told me they are no way the SSR will run 12's, To me it is how far will it go in the 12's, They are another post that is more a joke about 11sec. SSR but really it wouldn't shock me to see a 5.3 run 11 sec. with nos

I also realize that the automatic takes away some speed. The best factory times I have seen (with a 6-liter 6-speed) was 13.90 at 103 mph. That's why I thought the speed was down a bit for low 13's. Maybe not.

Main thing is that you're having fun.

Having fun it what it is all about and I have more fun testing the SSR than I did racing my SS/EA for money, I would just about bet when the track gets better and I run 12's I will still run 104mph or not much over that, When I look at my 1/8 mile burn out I turned 17.40 at almost 100 mph, One thing about drag racing the top end means very little
