What changed

in the steering system configuration/components between 04 and 05? I notice a marked difference between steering response and feel between the two. Anybody out there know? Are the components interchangeable, and if so can I "upgrade" the 04 steering to respond like the 05? Any information would be appreciated.

I believe the difference is in the power steering rack only, it would be a matter of changing your 04 to the 05 rack, I have considered changing mine.

If you find out let me know also, I have noticed that since I replaced the sway bars, that the side-to-side movement over bumps, etc., it a little better than before. I also know that the X-brace under the front end is the same diameter in the 03's and 05's. I imagine that all 4 years use the same X-brace, so it must be in the steering rack as 41chevcoe pointed out..................................Tom

Thanks

coe - I was afraid that was the answer I would get. I guess I need to crawl around under them both for a while. Does anyone know if the parts are interchangeable with any other GM model, like say the Trailblazer? If it's unique to the SSR, I won't fix it until it's broke!
