What should I do

Contacted consumer affairs because the service department just can't seem to fix my babygirl after 2 years of trying. Maybe she was a lemon. Lawyer says I may have a choice of getting another truck or my money back. I really wish the dealor would have just fixed her. The service department called me and said they now know what the problem is, but I don't really trust them at this point.

Whats wrong with it or whats it doing? If you really like the truck then give them one more chance to get it right, if not get your money back and find a better.

2 years for an overheating issue? I think you have morons servicing your truck. Curious, list for us what they have replaced and worked on for the 7 or 8 times it's been in the shop and how long it worked. You mentioned getting the "Mike In Az" fan kit awhile back, I guess you never did it or mentioned it to your service department? When you say "overheat", is it shutting down to "limp mode" and lights flashing or something else?

You mentioned getting crazy dash lights in a previous post, that is a sure sign of an ignition switch and might be the real cause of all your issues. The ignition switch is a few dollars, either buy one and swap it or demand they do it and see what happens. Do a search on here for the switch, you will see all types of weird problems that this simple part creates. There are instructions available from here if you want to do it yourself.

Agreed. Or find another dealer. I had to do that to get my clutch replaced. Dealer #1 had no interest in helping me out. Dealer #2 was as accommodating as could be.

My dealership had trouble fixing my leaks......

I printed off fixes from this site and gave it to them. Never gave up
They realized they had to rely on what was being said here in order to fix it.
Small production brings unknown fixes for the R's.......................

To date my is trouble free and I am back to enjoying it like I should

I agree - if the first dealer isn't cooperative or isn't solving the problem, try another dealer - There are dealers out there that REALLY want you to be happy with your truck and their service - My dealer has gone overboard in making sure that I stay happy with their service and because of that, I am very happy to refer other SSR owners to them - Check with other fanatics in your area and find out who services their trucks.

! ! ! ! , Nancy . . . not all dealers are created equal.

Would any of us continue to support a QUACK DOCTOR? . . . the same should apply for our SSR's!

Stella.. where are you located? I ask because you mention they have not been able to fix your SSR for 2 years, but you only have 9 posts on here. I guess i was thinking after 2 years you mght have been on more often to get some answers.

Bring it down to HB and we'll get some fanatics together to troubleshoot it. Even get Mike In AZ (Mr Cool) on the phone (if necessary).

Focks, she is now desperate. I had to go to a couple of different dealers myself. Hated both of them. Use a private mechanic now that I LOVE

Couldn't use another Dealer

I was at another dealer when I found out my warranty was expired. The warrenty is still registered to a dealer in Michigan, The warrenty started in 2003 and I bought my truck in 2005. The service department at Cormier tried to charge me. The guy who sold me the car honored his agreement. But now the service people are upset and under good faith I took it back one more time. Did not start the next morning, key got stuck in igntion( new switch) It just seems everytime they work on one thing it is always another.

When the other dealer looked up my VIN number it was not registered to me. Is that just an oversight?

Sounds like it is time to get a lawyer involved if the car was never registered to you that needs to be fixed right away. Maybe you can get your warranty back if they didn't change the title over!

I hope we can help you here with some of your issues. maybe you list all the things you have done or issues you have had!

Stella is in Los Angeles. Several SoCal fanatics have offered to help but as yet she hasn't taken anyone up on their offer. Don't think any of us have met her yet and she is new to the forum.

I would have never know that my truck wasn't registered to me if I had not gone to another dealer for repairs.

My dealer in Houston - Lone Star Chevrolet is fantastic - They have only had to back order parts a couple of times - but not more than a week or so to get the parts in to fix or replace. 95% of the time it is ready in the same day.

Gm pays up

Stella:

Good dealers, like good Plumbers, are sometimes difficult to find. I have been to 3 different dealers with warranty issues until, after my 5th driveshaft and endless roof cycle timeouts, I sued GM.

I hated to do it but, after all the time my "Arrest Me" Red SSR spent at the Dealer, it was the only thing I felt reasonable to resort to.

Long story short, I have an extended warranty provided by GM for my troubles and a fairly sizable check from GM in settlement. Overall, and after much back and forth, I still have the SSR, have the satisfaction of the check and the relief of the GM provided extended warranty. Made the 16 months of hassle well worth while.

Find a good dealer and, if they can't/won't provide exemplary customer service......go after them. Its funny but, once they get the Lawyer letters and find they are on the hook with GM, the come around pretty fast.

Good luck. Go Red Sox!!
