What's the expected duty cycles on lowering the top?
I'm wondering how many times GM lowered and raised the top in tests. What's the expected number of times the top can be lowered and raised before failure?
I figure about 1000 top downs and top ups a year. Did GM test this 10,000 times, so I can expect the top to last 10 years?
Anyone know? I'll even accept something from those weird wine drinking Ford lovers.

To put that in perspetive, if you lower and then raise it once per day, 8000 cycles is 8000/2/365 = about 11 years.
Don't sweat it.

Uh, I raise and lower it twice per day, at least. Once going to work and once coming back. If I'm shopping or something it's going to be more, as I'm not going to leave the top down if I'm going into a mall.
I had to say that. I would think the parts counter is where your info will be. Unless the parts guy passes through here. No one has had a need to replace the whole unit at cost yet that I know of. Thought you had a REAL SSR (05)

Tux Tex .. I took your first response as a defensive reply to what you thought was a foreigner attacking a fellow countryman. I thought you may not have seen his post, about a REAL SSR. (check post "drive your spouce nuts") Plus our past Prime Minister while running for election chose not to back your troops in this last conflict. (Inbarsing for many of us, and tarnish for all those who fought in all previous wars side by side with the U.S.A ... I lost a Grandfather on the beach D-day and an uncle in Nam) You back a friend up always … all is good on this end. . . . THANKS for changeing your post

Don't worry. Even if you have the standard (3) year warrantee you can cycle your top up to 7.3 times a day until it meets the 8000 cycle testing. So, if you want to use your top, use your top. If you raise and lower it a lot (8) times a day, every day then you may see a failure. If it occurs during warrantee then it should be repaired by CM and be ready for another 8000 cycles. Otherwise you will have gotten your enjoyment out of it and you will need to get it repaired. Although this could be expensive consider this. I own a 92 Chrysler convertable. The car is well used and so is the top. I have not had to replace the top's motor since I have had the vehicle.
