Wheels/Paint Color??

I have an 04, stock wheels that are Silver, of course, but I saw, read somewhere there were TW0 different colors on the wheels.

I am right??

If so where do I find the different colors?

Is there a difference between a 06 silver wheel and an 04 silver wheel??

Dick
Thanks

Smile Different Color Wheels

Yep, I was right.

There are two different colors on ths Stock OEM Silver wheels.

03/04 OEM Wheel
Paint Code 76P

04/06 OEM Wheel
Paint Code 96P

When buying repalcement rims, this may be good to know.

Dick

Smile Wheels

OK, I have a real bad rear wheel that the previous owner gouged by running the "R" thru a car wash. He said his wife hit a curb and that could be true, too.
Anyway, I have a chance to get some rims that are new, but they are off an 06 and mine is and 04. They had two different paint codes, but overlapped, leave it to GM.
I need to know if it is the same paint code that is on my "R".
Mark is checking my vin# and I checked my Build List, which has nothing, by the way.

Glad to know the Paint Code is in the Glove Box, can't Thank you enough for that infomation. I spent hours trying to find out.

I went to cupboard and cupboard was bare!!

Their were a lot of codes, but no paint codes, or any that matched 76P or 96P

Dick here is what I come up with from one of my sorces.

Color: Vehicle Search Results

On this page there are two wheel colors. both are used in 04 but only one is used in all years. I would go with the most common one if you can't find your WA code in the glove box. Either WA9967 or WA9021. It appears that the 9967 one was the most common one used on all vehicles.

Thanks guys, That is a lot of good information and I appreciate your efforts.

I had lunch with Lonnie today, and he is checking with his paint supplier.

He thinks that they may be the same, ie:
04 code 76P - Silver
04 code 96P -Sparkle Silver

But really both the same, only a name change for marketing.

I will post as soon as I know.

Dick

SSR Silver Wheel Paint

Dick,
The can of paint I have is a GM product and is labeled WA14OL for paint code. It says SSR silver wheel paint. Is it my imagination or is the silver exterior wheel paint and the interior wheel paint two different colors?

Now that I think back when I painted the grill bars silver on the Purple R they're two differnt silvers but one was for the runnig boards and the other was the wheels. This could explain why 9967 was all 4 years .But maybe not, I will check on monday.

Lonnie if you read the info on the page. Both of them were wheel colors, but on differant vehicles. This website left off the SSR from the list, but I do believe the Corvette used the same wheel color as the SSR.

Here are the wheel color charts from 2004 and 2006

more info from PPG
Description Start Year 1992 End Year 2007 Usage Comments Multitone? Manufacturer Code Brand Code Stock Code Combinations
SILVER 2004 2004 Wheel No WA927K 906661 No
SILVER , SILVER 1992 2007 Wheel No W50A9021, WA9021, WAEQ9021, WAPB9021 35134 No

Description Start Year 1992 End Year 2008 Usage Comments Multitone? Manufacturer Code Brand Code Stock Code Combinations
SPARKLE SILVER Wheel No PB9967, WA9967, WAEQ9967, WAPB9967 35365
SPARKLE SILVER II 2002 Wheel No WA778J, WAEQ778J 301504

This aught to help a lot.

Paint Supplier

Lonnie, I can't thank you enough for taking the time to find out if there is a difference between 04/06 wheel colors.

They are probably the same.

I do want the two rear 06 wheels, and that will also give me a spare rim, in case I let my wife drive and she drags a curb.

ONLY KIDDING DEAR!!

Dicktator

Here is the best picture I could get of the Paint Codes out of my glove box.
Hope it helps.

Code

Ahhh, I see a Paint Code 73P Which is the 03/04 Code.

Now, if Lonnie finds out that they are really the same as the 06 (96P) then it won't matter.
