When should you changwe battery?

MY SSr will be 4 years old in september & the battery is working fine cause i keep a trickle charge on it when not driving it. Is there a recommended time to change it? Local service manager says "If its nit giving problems , leave it alone"> He also quoted $150 to replace it!
Thanks for your opinions

My '03 still has the original battery. Last fall I was going to have the dealer put in a new one, but they checked it out and said it was still testing very strong. I drive year round and don't put on a trickle charger.
However, I think I will replace it this fall just to be safe.

The SSR battery should hold up a little better than regular car or truck batterys because it is mounted in a cool spot but you may want to check that the terminals are clean and tight once a year.

From what I've heard, the battery can just stop working at any time without much or any notice. This can happen when you are away from home and can leave you stranded. And worse yet, you might have to have the SSR towed to make the repair.
My .02 cents.

So your saying I should change the battry when? I noticed you have an 03 , have you changed yours? What I'm asking is, should I change mine just to be safe? I have an 04. Sure do not want to be stranded in the desert in 110* this time of year.

Raider Keith;
I changed my battery this winter because it didn't turn over the engine quite as quickly as it had been...

Thumbs up battery replacement

"should have,could have,would have..." why change the battery prior to
it dying? Ive had batteries in tractors,aircraft,boats,autos last for years and then "pass on". When it dies, change it. Usually you will have some warning(weak starts,etc)and then go for it. Plus im sure 90+% of us have road service included with your insurance and and if it dies on the road youre taken care of.
