So my dear wife calls me yesterday to tell me that she could not get out of the car because the inside door handle doesn't work. She went on to explain how hard it was to crawl over the center console and get out on the passanger side. I asked why she didn't just lower the window and use the outside handle to open the door. There was a long silence on the other end of the line.
Long story short, the dreaded door handle failure hit us at about 7000 miles.
Took the car to Weir Canyon Chevrolet here in Orange County and talked to the Service Manager. Thank goodness for this forum because he was going to just replace the left handle until I mentioned that there was a TSB on the subject. He said he would check it out and get back to me.:
This morning he called up and said that he found the TSB and had the left handle in stock and would get the other one today from another local dealer and have it ready by the end of the day.
Just picked up the car after only one day without it. They even washed and waxed it. Great customer service as far as I am concerned.

good for you!
When my driver handle failed and I took it in, I told the service writer about the TSB and was ignored! They replaced the driver handle with the 'old' version and lo and behold it failed again! Took it in again and a different service writer told me about the TSB...ordered both sides and everything is great...furthermore, I will only work with this service writer from now on!
...while on this topic just wondering if the handles can be replaced without them actually failing ....YET? IE-if your warranty expiry approaches. IF not I guess I can always snap the handles a few times......
Dang...someone beat me to the answer! By the way, a TSB should NOT be confused with a Recall. A Recall is a more serious situation, as recalls deal with safety issues, and these are regulated by federal guidelines.

HarborRide,
I asked the Service Manager here to give me the definition of both and we are right on........
A TSB is a repair advisory to the maintainers on a suggested fix to a reported problem. These are generated inside GM as a result of feedback on customer problems from the reporting dealers. Good communication of repairs that will save the warranty cost of in depth investigations. There are a number of them on the SSR and can be found using the search tool. Great stuff.
A Recall is a mandated repair or replacement of a problem part or system that could be a safety problem. I saw the stack of vette roofs at the dealersip today that are the result of the latest Corvette recall. They are separating.......
To date, there has never been a recall on any SSR system or part.
Regards,
Mike

When I took mine into Steve at Buff Whelan. Wingrider sent me the TSB information I needed to have the handle replaced. At this time it was only the drivers side. I gave the information to Steve and he ordered the proper parts. He told me that he was ordering both sides even thou he wasn't required to do so. He felt that the TSB right up was enough for him to see that both needed to be replaced.
I have recommended this service manager to other SSR owners in my area. I see no one but him.....he has done an outstanding job at researching all complaints that I brought him in from this site.

Another safety item that should be a recall. I would have kicked the window and door out and made GM pay for the damage under warranty.

I'm sure you're kidding, but.....

I guess this is one of those times that we all have to remember that there is more than one way to solve a problem...... Let's see now, ......... instead of rolling down the window and reaching out to open the door, I guess I could lay on my back across the console and kick the window out of my favorite ride.....
Oh yeah, and then sue GM for the back pain and glass in my shorts........
My wife is right.... there is more than one answer to any problem.

wow, I never would have thought of that one.. kick out the window and sue GM. OMG that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. But if it works for you.
So Mike, did you pick out the imposter?
