Exclamation Wiper blade and arms

I am writting this from the local Chevy dealer while I am gettting some routine service done. Late last year I ordered some new wiper blade assy and told them to hold them for me till spring. Today they went to put them on and the new blades did not have a washer assy attached.
The mech checked and was informed that GM does not make the SS/R blade assy anymore, and now they have a replacement arm with the washer built in the new arm. Cost was a little over a $100.00 per arm. The mech and service writter talked and I was just informed that they will cover the arms under warranty. You may want to check with your dealership on the upgrade.
I should have the new arms and blades later next week. I will update this post next week.

Do you have part numbers for the new assemblies??

I've been waiting for some time for the LH assembly - my LH wiper has been rubbing on the lower windshield gasket, and wore through the washer tube, which for some silly reason is routed outside the lower arm and back into the upper arm above the hinge point, leaving it exposed to damage.

Routing on the passenger side arm is totally different - that washer tube is not exposed.

See the note above - is there a new part number for the assembly noted by flynSS/R?

The part numbers you have noted are the ones I'm waiting for. My dealer says there is no inventory in Canada or US.

I checked the General Motors Parts Locator

the 15828971 LH blade stock is showing in Flint MI stock at 28 Parts
the 15828973 LH arm is in Buchana MI stock at 143 Parts
Hope this helps out.
A call need to go to the dealer GM Has Stock ready to ship.

I just got back from the dealer and they are replacing the arm under a SB/warranty. Should have the new parts in mid week next week.

Umpire, Thanks for the information on the part numbers.

Talking wipers

See, that is why I never drive mine in the rain.

I only use the wipers if I get caught in the rain, never on purpose.

Dick,
When I lived in Largo, we called it liquid sunshine. Been a mess around here all day and it looks like it is backed up to KC Kansas.

I was fortunate to see this thread this AM, last week a local Chevy dealership broke off the washer portion attempting to replace the wipers, they ordered the parts but they didn't fit (?) so I gave them the parts numbers and they said they will have them next week also covered under warranty.

I normally like to replace the entire assy(arm) but because of the chance of breaking the squirters, decide just to change the rubbers-and was less expensive too.Tedd

Dick, I have asked the same question for many winters. Now the Wife has told me to be ready to move to Sanibel in 5 years. She already has my new job lined up for me at the Ace Hardware Store to keep me out of her hair.

As for Tony, we can share him. You have for 1/2 the year and we can keep him out of trouble for the other 1/2.

My dealer covered my broken washer assembly with two new style arms with the sprayers built in. That was the good news. The bad news is it took nearly a year to get both the arms in. Ya, thats right, a year to get a wiper arm.

I got the new arms and blades installed about 10 days ago and so far all is good.
They new style arm/blade assy has the washer located on the arm now and I must say it does a good job washing the glass.
If you have any thoughts about to change the arm/blade assy, I would do it now while GM is doing under warranty.
