Wipers think it's raining all the time.

Don't worry, it's not on my R but on my 90 GMC. They just won't shut off! Any ideas on what it could be or what part I may need? Got the front & rear brakes done today. Oh, and I found out my tires are from 1994, they still have 85% of the tread left, but there is cracking visible.

Wiper switch could be busted, or the contact leads in the wiper motor could be shorted.

I hopped over to gm-trucks.com to do a search and found something that could help you out.

Run a way wipers.
Just finished having the same problem fixed on my R. The dealer had a TSB on this matter and it appears that the connector near the wiper motor gets wet and shorts out. There is one wire that is hot at all times and with the water short this makes the wipers go crazy.
They changed the connector and motor at the same time. When they changed the connector, they found some chafed wires at the connector along with a tight bend of wires.
The mech made the wires a little longer to eliminate the tight bends.
Just my .02 worth of info.

there was a recall on wiper motor circuit boards for some of these trucks, yours may or may not be included but it sounds like that is your problem, I have changes 100s of them for this same complant. the board is cheap and easy to replace yourself.

Thanks for the help guys! Interesting read ssr71. I believe water was/is the culprit. My dad said he had washed off the engine earlier that morning. Today it's working fine. I'll see if it does it again. I did have to replace the starter though.

It's called a wiper motor pulse board. Simple fix. Here's an example:

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...e=2040&PTSet=A

I'd replace it anyway. It's going to go bad no matter what. I've had two 93 WT/1500's and have had to replace in both of them.

Visible cracks .....I don't think I'd be driving on 13 year old tires!
Better safe than sorry.....
