Yet another Sirius satellite question.

I did a search on here & did not find quite what I was looking for.

I know many of you have installed either XM or Sirius, my question is, can Sirius be installed on my 2003? Many of you have installed it on your 04, 05, 06's but should the 03's be the same. Reason I'm asking is because I've been to a few sites that only have 05 & 06 applications for SIR GM1.

I called Sirius today to cancel the service for my Charger I sold since my Raider has free Sirius service for 6 months. He said if I want to get it on my R he would take off $40 for the module & get me free installation. So I'd actually be getting it for $40! He couldn't tell if the the 03 radios were satellite ready or not.

Any input would be great!

There are only 2 head units used in all 4 model years. The base unit - 1 CD with MP3 capability, and the 6 disc unit installed with the Bose system. I do know the 6-disc unit is XM compatbile and I'm fairly certain the 1-disc unit is too, but I'd like someone else to chime in with a confirmation.

As long as the module in question will interface with the head unit, it'll work the same on an '03 as it does on an '05 or '06.

Sattelite Radio

I don't know about Sirius Radio but I just had XM Radio installed on my SSR today at the Chevy dealer in Beaverton, OR they used 2 components a XM Direct Digital Adapter made by TERK part number XMDGM100 and a XM Direct Tuner part number XMD1000, they took an hour and a half to install and it cost $349 total parts and labor. It works great, the XM shows up as one of the radio bands along with AM, FM1 and FM2, the XM station shows up on the digital display of the factory radio and the steering wheel controls work, very happy with it.

I have an 03 with single cd and told it could not be done. I replaced the unit with a Kenwood and the dash kit they used had a pocket in it under the radio to hold more of my stuff.

Tommy, I also have the Bose with 6 disc. Is this all you needed to get it up and running?
