The Service Parts Identification Label

The Scoop on the SPID
>

Did you know that all SSRs were produced with a build sheet (of sorts) that's always with your truck?

Since 1984, the modern day Service Parts Identification label (SPID label) has been placed on all General Motors vehicles to aid service and parts personnel in identifying parts and options originally installed on a particular vehicle.

On SSR the label can be found on the inside of the glove box door.

The label lists both Regular Production Option (RPO) and Regular Production Accessory (RPA) codes, identical to what can be found on your truck’s buildsheet.

The codes are three-digit combinations of letters and numbers and identify both standard and optional equipment that was installed on the vehicle at the Lansing Craft Centre.

How to Read the Label

Refer to the diagram and detail below to help you interpret your truck's label.
  1. Vehicle Identification Number
  2. Wheelbase
  3. Order Number
  4. Model Designation (CS15703 for SSR)
  5. Interior Color Code
  6. Exterior Color Code
  7. Paint Technology (BC/CC = Base Coat/Clear Coat)
SSR RPO Project

Cash has undertaken a project to detail and define the specific RPO and RPA codes used for each model year SSR. When complete they will be posted in the Heritage Center.

In the meantime, click here for a list of GM RPOs/RPAs published recently.*
