The Library

Wouldn't you like to find SSR information you need in one easy to read place?
We have a TON of very useful information for SSR owners on this site, but sometimes finding that information isn't easy. So this is what we are going to do about it:

We have a NEW section. It's called The Library.
In it we will have articles written by volunteers. These articles will contain concise, easy to read information about things SSR owners need to know about. Articles could include Tires, Exhaust modifications, Automatic Servo upgrade, Manuals and Service Bulletins, Rims, Chrome, etc., whatever someone wants to write about that deals with our SSRs.

How will this be different than a Thread that already exists about a subject?
The difference will be that it will be written in one post (or 2-3 depending on how much needs to be said), by one person and will be locked, meaning, that no additional posts will be allowed about the subject (wait don't get upset about that yet, read on).

So how does this writer and article get into the library? We will have TWO sub-sections. The first section will be Articles, the second section will be Articles in Review. A person who wants to write an article will get permission from the Moderators to start an article in Articles in Review. They will post an article that they have written and the request others to review it. Anyone can review the articles, but comments must be considerate and constructive. Comments can be posted like in any other thread. Once the article has been sufficiently reviewed and the Author (or Moderators) feel that the article is ready to be moved, we will move the article to the Articles sub-section. It will then be locked. If later an Article is found to have an error or additions need to be made, a Moderator can be notified and a corrective action can be taken.

What we hope to accomplish with this section is to have a great place for everyone to get good information about what they need quickly and easily.

Any question/comments can be directed in my direction.

Thanks,
WOW_FCTR

The writers

So you want to volunteer to write an article for The Library? Good for you....

Here is what you need to do:

1) Notify me what you will be writing about.
2) Wait for approval. (Don't want 2 people writing about the same thing)
3) Do research. Read all the threads we have dealing with the subject. Read any outside information you can get your hands on too.
4) Write up the article.
5) Post the article in Articles in Review.
6) Read comments/questions about your article and modify it when appropriate.
7) Let me know when you think the review is complete and I will move the article to the Articles sub-section and lock it up.

What we want the article to have:
1) Information. As much info on the subject as you can find.
2) Facts. We'd like to have good verifiable facts.
3) No opinions. Say you were doing the article on Tires. We don't want "I think this tire is better in the rain than that tire." We do want "During a test with the same SSR, the same driver, on the same surface, on the same day, this tire brand spun less on a wet/dry surface than that tire brand." We are not saying that opinions are not valuable, we just want as many facts as possible.
4) Spelling. Please run your article through a spell checker.

Please contact me with any questions/comments.

Here are some topics that someone might be interested in writing about:

Articles already written:
Production (where, dates, numbers, colors, etc.)
Power Windows Description and Operation
Power Folding Top Description and Operation
Chevy SSR History Images I

Articles In Review:
Tires for Stock Rims
Stock Specs

Article Ideas:
Custom Wheel Sizes
Spare Tire
Engine Performance
Known Problems
Aftermarket Options
Towing
Torque management
Exhaust
Superchargers
Water Leaks
Memorabilia
Tinting
Cup Holders
DIC settings
Lights (DRLs, Interior Amber/White Light, Fog Light shaking)
Overheating
Differences Between Models
Maintenance
Cheap Horse Power
Gas Mileage vs Gear Ratio
Gas Pedal Removal
Lowering

etc.

1- WOW_FCTR, you're a glutton for punishment.

2- We are very, very, lucky to have someone willing to put in the time and effort to make this place more user friendly/useful for us. I speak from authority on the time and effort, because I do it on another forum and most people don't realize how time consuming, difficult, and sometimes frustrating, it is.

3- THANK YOU!

I guess I am

I actually was hoping that people who actually knew what they were talking about would write some of the articles...oops.

I did have one member willing to write an Article, but wasn't able to do it at this time.

I will keep plugging away at them as long as I'm here and there is something to add, but it's already taking me longer per article than I anticipated. Plus I'm doing things like the NEW calendar....hooray for me

Thanks for the post....

AGAIN...if anyone would like to write an article....step up

Thanks, this is a great idea and should cut down on search time considerably (unless I'm the only one who can't find anything)
