Tire manufactures sure don't make finding tire options for your SSR very easy, we probably don't have to tell you though. I upgraded my wheels with 20" all around from Discount Tires. My local dealer worked with me to keep the same "rake' rear to front as the 20" to 19". I now don't worry about finding a 19" tires. Thanks to Discount Tire.
My SSR: 05 6 speed black has a K&N cold air kit descreened and Diablo tuner & Eric's hood

Pictures brand and size would be nice. How do you like them ???
Ok here are the tires I am running on my SSR with 20s front and rear.
front - 275/40/20 Hankook Ventus ST
rear - 275/45/20 Road Hugger FRT with these the front end has a lighter feel or
for the same feel as orginal go with 285/50/20 on rear. I picked tire size over brand. These brands were in stock at the time I bought.
OK, maybe I missed something....but, where are the Toyo's? I'm running them now and I got them thru my local Discount Tire......
Our stores can order the Toyo brand for you. We don't mail order them so I don't have much information on them. What sizes and what tread are you running?

How did it work out by placing 20 's on the front? Is there any special adjustments to be made? Any difference in braking or steering ? Also why two different brands? Do you still have stock wheels? Thanks for info. i need tires now.
I spoke with Goodyear today and according to them, they have the RS-A 255/45-19 scheduled for production next week. Their back orders will be filled first and everyone else should see stock in 30-45 days from now.
My SSR: Black, '03, 1sb, #1256, License Plate was WOW FCTR

I didn't mean I heard the same thing from you....so I wasn't shooting you
Goodyear already spent a lot of time NOT putting the tires on the production schedule and then they have moved the production date more than twice when they finally decided that they were going to make them...oh, but wait, they only put the 19"s on the schedule.
In talking with them, I came to the understanding that they wouldn't make the tires until they had enough back ordered. In my opinion that is a really stupid way to do business...I've already gone to different tires because I couldn't get the GYs when I needed them as I'm sure many other have done as well......
Hopefully you will be able to supply us tires (from somewhere) for years to come....

Downfall of the written vs. spoken word I guess, hope you didn't think I was snapping back at you either, I wasn't too worried about it. I feel like I do get repetitive with every manufacture from time to time.
Thanks to all of your help, it looks like we have a pretty good list of alternatives going here. It is unfortunate that Goodyear isn't producing this tire better, they have their reasons; unknown to me.

I ordered my 19" Goodyear RS-A's today!!!!!!!!! They finally have them in stock! I called Goodyear this morning to verify and they said they have them in the warehouses now. Then I called Discount Tire Direct to verify with them and they verified it also. So I ordered the 2 I desperately needed. If anyone needs these please call Brandon at Discount Tire Direct and get them shipped before they run out again!
I had a Goodyear blow out Sunday at 75mph and 3800 miles on my SSR. Chevy as usual says no help. I am considering run flats. Good or bad idea?
USAFA59:
3800 miles and a blowout, bummer. I hate hearing about blowouts. I take it your ok and nothing major happend, thank goodness.
wow_fcrt is correct they will be hard to find in a size that will work for you. Run flats are great if you don't have a spare and you get a flat. You should be able to drive them on them a short distance to get you to a tire shop. There are a lot of misconceptions about them though. Yes you can drive on them when they are flat but not for very long and they are usually pretty pricey. They almost always still have to be replaced after they have been driven on flat. Run flats can however decrease chances and the severity of a blowout.
The fact is, a blowout can happen at any time for a number of reasons. The best thing to do it try to avoid them and follow your tire manufactures safety recommendations and warnings. Always maintain proper air pressure and have your car properly aligned. Make sure your tires are proper load rated for your vehicle and do not exceed the speed rated limit of your tires. See your tire manufactures web site for more specific safety details.
Another option for you, if you are unable to find a run flat that will work for you is to look at extra loaded tires. They have reinforced side walls and can also decrease your chance for a blowout.
I ended up going with the BFG G Force tires. Had them installed the day before we found out the Goodyears were available. I have had them on for two weeks and have run them through the paces, even on wet pavement. Traction is great and so far I am very happy. Had them installed at Discount Tires and the service, as usual, was outstanding!!
