11th Annual SSRs at the Peach City Beach Cruise June 22 - 25 2017

We invite you to attend the 11th edition of the largest and longest running SSR gathering in the Northwest.

We have just confirmed that Dennis Gage will be coming back to the 2017 Beach Cruise to film an episode of My Classic Car. Although SSRs don't really fit the theme of his show, he was intrigued by the level of enthusiasm and the size of our group in 2008, and was especially taken by the work Sue (Tickledpink) did to make all those caricatures our group had when he showed up. The SSRs actually had a pretty good representation on his show.

23 SSRs coming to the 2017 Beach Cruise as of May 24 2017

Schedule:

Thursday:

Zia's -
Meet and Greet - Cocktails 6 PM, Dinner at 7 PM - Separate bills

Link to Zia's thread.

Zias Stonehouse Restaurant, Summerland, British Columbia

Friday:

- Registration from 9 AM at the Lakeside Resort
- Wine Cruise, Cruising all day Friday
- Parade - Gather at 4:30, parade at 5:30
- Show and Shine - Rotary Park, reserved parking for SSRs

- 10 PM Gyro Park Featured Entertainment

- Dinner at your leisure - lots of restaurants to choose from.

Saturday

- Car Show from 8 AM *** All registered SSRs must be in Rotary Park

- 5 PM - Winding Road Cruise/Tickleberrys

- 8 PM - Group Dinner at The Pasta Factory.

- 10 PM - Feature Entertainment - Nearly Neil, Bobby Bruce's World Class Tribute to Neil Diamond

Link to Saturday dinner thread. Please post if you plan to attend, or regrets if you have alternative plans.

Sunday:

Awards at 11 AM - 12:30 PM

Cost:

Beach Cruise Registration ($35, $40 After June 1) and any clothing purchase (optional) are paid directly to the Beach Cruise

Cost of the Saturday night dinner TBA

Passports are required for all movements between Canada and the US.

Welcome to Penticton & Wine Country - have a wonderful stay!

Our SSRs will be on the grass at Rotary Park Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Security will be on site, eliminating the logistics of parking at the hotel.

Registrations for the 2016 Beach Cruise was 705 cars. We can accommodate up to 750 cars. 2016 was close to a sellout.

The setting is spectacular. The car show is staged from the Lakeside Resort Hotel (The long pier at the center of the photo) all the way to the SS Sicamous, at the far right, just before the river channel.

We will be using the park area to the right of the hotel on the photo below. We'll be just off the beach, on grass, across from Gyro Park, the outdoor entertainment area and concessions.

Hotels

Lakeside Resort

The Lakeside Resort Hotel is a luxury hotel on the Beach. It has a pub, the Bufflehead Pasta and Tapas Bar, a patio eating area, and the Hooded Merganser Restaurant built over the water. The Casino at the Lakeside Resort is now closed, has reopened on the corner of Power St and Eckhart Ave, same property as the South Okanagan Events Center, curling rink, community center and convention center.

If you check the photo of the hotel on the link below, the park area is just over top of the Hooded Merganser restaurant on the right, past the giant tree.

The Lakeside is very convenient, at the center of the Beach Cruise, next to Rotary Park.

I have booked 30 rooms, available from Thursday through Sunday.

Parkside - $201 Beachside - $210 Lakeside - $218

Some upgrades to executive suites may be available. Please request when booking your room.

April 23 deadline to book rooms. 48 hour cancellation with no penalty.

Book by calling their toll-free number 1-800-663-9400. Booking is under SSRFanatic.

Alternative Accomodations. These are a 10 - 15 minute walk or a short drive away.

Penticton Coast Hotel (formerly Travelodge)

Days Inn & Conference Centre

Sandman Hotel

There are a lot of other motels/hotels available, some at lower cost. The motels along Lakeshore Drive are convenient, but many are heavily booked already, so early booking is recommended.

Great to see you make the trip. I was in a rental car at the 2007 Woodward Dream Cruise - not as much fun as driving an SSR.

You still have time to decide to drive instead. Don't you have a spare UV for just such occasions?

Ummmmm - probably not. It only had 1340 miles on it. Heck - I even trailered it to Penticton because it wasn't titled.

Besides - Bob would want to drive something other than a UV.

As you know, our plan is to join you guys in Edmonton and be in the caravan to Penticton. We will have to discuss the rental situation - I was uneasy driving your two-tone the 4 miles from the storage garage to our house for the paintless dent repair. You would be surprised how many speeding tickets you can get in 4 miles with a supercharged 6.0!

Yes, we did talk about it, but wasn't sure whether or not you had made for sure decision. We are thrilled that you'll be joining us! If you're uneasy about driving the black one you are more than welcome to try for more speeding tickets with the two-tone. Just remember though...50 km/hr over the speed limit you lose the truck. Not to me, but to the boys in blue.

Bob & Melinda
That would be killer if you folks could drive an "SSR Rental", and caravan with us to Penticton.!!!! I understand from another fellow, who rented from KellyO/CyndyO rentals a few years back, that all their fleet of SSR Rentals come with complimentary unlimited miles, insurance, damage waiver, mosquito repellent, mocassins, Buffalo jerky, Tillamook Cheese Sticks, and one free tank of premium fuel!!! Also, if you choose the "escort option", they provide a real Part-Native/Part-Irish Engish Speaking guide, who will show you a construction site, plus Banff, Lake Louse, and Jasper National Parks on the return trip. Look them up on Tripadvisor!
