Hello to all SSR Fanatics: Well, just as I knew it would happen, the 2008 PCBC came and went so fast I can't believe wer'e home already!! Several fanatics are still crusing more of the western Canadian area close to Peter & Cindy's house,in fact they are stopping there to say hello again, that's also home to the spectacular "SSR DRAGN", what an engineering marvel! It took first place in the ,SSR Best of show, category!!Congratulations Peter & Cindy!!
We started this wonderful ssr event at 4:30AM Thursday morning,19th June,2008.Most of us western Washington fanatics all met in Cle Elum,Wa. right on time 8:30AM,after a short hello how are ya and quick beverage,we headed to Rocky Reach Dam,about twenty miles from LK Chelan, where we picked up a few more Fanatics from eastern and northern Wash.from there we stopped at Don Morse Park, on LK Chelan,Tom & Karen Walters(our LK Chelan hosts from the last two years) met us there and led us all to Blueberry Hills Restaurant for a very tasty lunch.Tom was to lead us to Penticton, but had unfinished business to attend to ,so Glenn Whaley took point and scurried us up to Canada in a most rapid manner! At least fifteen to twenty Kilometers
over the speed limit without any site of the Law!! We all pulled into Penticton around 5:15PM a bit later than planned, but we made three unscheduled stops, that's what caused our delay etc. Pulling in the parking lot ,the first thing we see is Mike AZ sitting on the ground cleaning or working on a ssr?!That was a familiar site for most of the days to follow.cause Mike AZ.,thoughtfully brought some nice mods for the Canadians, that he installed for them, freight is so expensive,so the northern Fanatics got first choice to buy his wears!! We had to hurry to check in so we could make Zia's Restaurant by 6:15PM,it worked out just fine,SUE(tickledpink) Did her thing along with Ray(FLASSH) during which we all enjoyed a delicious dinner and got to meet many new Fanatics from all over Canada and of course our wonderful fanatic contingant from California & Arizona! What a neat bunch of crazy car nuts!I thought this quick story is worth telling: Ray asked the security Lad,who watched all of our precious SSR's during dinner if he wanted to either get paid a flat hourly wage or choose mangement, and take your chances on good will tip$$?! He chose Management and I bet he did ok!!
After dinner we headed for the Hotel where the turned down beds welcomed
our tired bodies! Up in the mornin and off to registration, where we got our bag of infomation, ballots, pins & badges, bracelets, for ingress & egress to the paying areas etc. We picked up our Penticton T-shirts for 2008,very cool, several people had Dennis Gage autograph them,Sue was awarded a one of a kind "Pink Penticton T-Shirt", that she had Dennis Gage sign !!
After that Toni & I ate breakfast with Mr & Mrs LOGGER,Mr & mrsTurnheadz,Mr & mrs Bluethunder.Sure enjoyed these guys!! Then off to the Wine Poker run
that was a lot of fun and the scenery was just spectacular!!Fanatics(Peter & Cindy) won first prize, actually Toni and I should have won?! They had a full house Queens and three eights or nines,we had two aces and three kings, but there's were all in the same suit, that's not a legal poker hand!
Saturday, main event: we all gathered by 7:00AM to start setting up for the really big show ladies and gentleman, yes, and what a car show it was, that had the largest attendance of exhibitors, over 650 cars & trucks, huge display of beautiful stock, modified, classic and speciality vehicles, even Dennis Gage remarked how many super nice cars & trucks were represented here at the Penticton Peach City Beach Cruise!Voting took place by 3:00PM then we all went to a delicious steak dinner with dessert at 4:00PM. Back to the tent area where we enjoyed a fun raffle and seeing many a fanatics win several times was a rare thing for sure?!! A cruise was led by Ray(FLASSH)WE stayed behind and relaxed and cleaned up the area and then took in a short time in the casino$$ then off to bed. Sunday casual meeting and socializing, breakfast in the tent at Gyro Park then awards at 11:00AM The Dragn pretty much took it all for the SSR's,Zane won the farthest drive award, others missing it by six miles! Close but no cigar eh!All in all it was a super sucessful Event very much enjoyed by all, needless to say, permagrins & new and old friends forever!! Thanks to All who made this so much fun for all of us!! That's you??? Fanatics, take a bow!!!

Reason: add pics
The first set of pics was Meeting at Rocky Reach Dam: The big guy is Glenn Whaley and his wife and other best friend Jack Angeline,Bill & laura Jenks,Ron in his UV SSR,Roy & Sandy>>>The next set of pics is Blueberry Hills Restaurant, very cool place with excellant food!!
Here are some pictures of inside Zia's and the parking lot where the young Lad rose to management, skipping the journeyman status! Reminds me of myself many moons ago! I don't know what Wayne is doing but it looks funny to me! Sandy's husband(turnheadz) Wayne is on a mission from GOD!
Much of the beautiful scenery in Penticton is just like what you will see in Lk
Chelan, reminds me of that area, very similar! Here is a few pics of the winery's and views from their sales areas etc. Also note: Jeff Henry's "Bluethunder" ssr with God's beautiful background>>>just magnificient isn't it!!
More beautiful scenery,I don't recall seeing such beautiful roses, multi color, just loved them! few more majestic shots then back to the hotel to enjoy a relaxing lunch with my soul mate and a cold ice tea! I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be at this event with my special love and to enjoy the love of all our wonderful ssr fanatics too!!
The last pic is when we started the Friday nite parade down main street. Mark & Roberta were the lead ssr(Firechaser) Mark also decided to do a celebration to the crowd by us putting our tops down as soon as the ssr in front of us sees their top start to come up,that way it looked like a slow motion affect of all tops going up and going down, pretty cool actually! Thanks Mark & Roberta!!
I guess this is the fad at custom car shows now to have a diecast of your car painted like yours and or modified the same as well, very cool, guess who has the urge to do this,,yep, got to get the little battery operated turn table and a smaller diecast works better, like 1/24 scale although I did see a 1:18 scale too! Thanks Mcvette-2 Carl & Nancy McFadden for coming along way from Kingsman,AZ and winning a major prize to boot! Also Jeff & Deborah Henry for all their neat showing of their Bluethunder,Lloyd &Gerry Simmons(llogger)Mike & Debbie Moro, Mike AZ. for all their contributions not only nice raffle gifts, but all the effort you put forth to help assist your fellow fanatics with their mod purcahses etc. Great Job! You guys are definetly Super SSR Fanatics in my book!! HIP.. HIP.. HOORAY for these Fanatics>>>Fanatics!!! OOPS!Sorry Frank & Connie,Long distant travelers too!! Thanks Guys for coming!!
