Mt Rainier - some of the group have the life time passes !!!
Gino and Rose,
It looks like a great day weather wise for your adventure....... wish I could be there to bore everyone with my stories of derring do while working in the Soda Fountain at Paradise Inn between my Freshman & Sophomore years at the UW, Huskyville !!! From skiing down from McClure Rock every morning (after a long trek up the mountain) to go to work each day, to hiding in the woods after dark with mountain guides (Gary Rose & Dick McGowen) who ROARed loudly and scared the employees on their way back to the "dorms" after their shift, to the laundry driver smuggling booze to the employees, ---- oh yes, the resident NYMPHO "nurse" "doing" lots of male guests in the campgrounds EVERY night, to the poor old soul who drank too much good old mountain water and ended up leaving a trail of slippery stuff ( it was called "the Guide House Two-Step) while going up and down the halls in Paradise Inn desperately trying to find the men's room !!! Oh my, Thank You for bringing it all back to me !!!
Have fun - You are very special to host this adventure for those SSR's who can attend!
Sue
PS: I finally got wise & had the Horse Guides take my skiis up the mountain to the top of Panorama for me every morning...... I would hike up with this fellow from Ft. Lewis, and we would have one hell-of-a-non-stop-great-run to the lodge...... from about 9,000 ft to 5,000 ft !!! Then he would pry open his K-2 rations with his ski pole, build a small fire and have lunch !! Now I see he was a HERO for eating that stuff !

We sure have missed the group and will try VERY hard to make the Mt. St. Helens run.

Gino and Rose Barbecue
All the SSR people that didnt make the barbecue missed some great food, drink and Gino and Rose hospitality, it was so nice of them to go to all that preparation and you also missed seeing a great collection of related auto memorabilia. Jeri and I thank them for sharing that with us.

WOW!! Is all I can say about Gino & Rose's hosting of this fabulous event!
Hello Fanatics:Toni & I got up a little extra early so we could take in a great
hardy breakfast at the Hangar Inn at Thun Field. We pulled in and right behind us were Tim & Mary, just completing a three hour drive from Oregon, to join us for breakfast. Gino showed up solo, leaving Rose back home to attend to the BBQ setup etc. We all departed from Thun field on our beautiful trek up to Mt Rainier.Along the way Gino had us pull into a very unique metal/museum
contained on several acres of rural farm land, the owner calls it "The spirit of Iron" Each piece of art was created out of dedication to a special individual
or group.the museum art works are this artists tribute to America, mankind,as well as,the animal kingdom.Pictures say it all! Enjoy. After we left the Iron works,we continued up the mountain topless as the sun broke from the overcast and warmed us instantly. We stopped at a viewing station of Alder Dam and took in some beautiful scenery and photos, then headed up the mountain on it's winding narrow roads.Once we got to our destination at Paradise visitor station, the altitude conjured a few rain drops upon the area,we put on our jackets,as the temperature dropped from 75 to 60 degrees. We all took in the newly constructed visitors center, boy they spared no expense on this huge structure, very nicely done with a lounge, dinning, historical, and souvenir areas.See pictures. We spent just under an hour at the visitors center then
started our way back down the mountain, getting enough sprinkles to get our shinny ssr's dirty,oh well, that's why God blessed us with quick detailer, right! Gino lead us down the mountain to his & Rose's beautiful unique home/museum.where we all enjoyed their warm and loving hospitality.
There home as you will see by many of the pictures is certainly a collage of auto, brewery signage memorabilia, well, just see the pictures, quite amazing to say the least! We all enjoyed a delicious BBQ with all the wonderful compliments and each others stories to complete our super fantastic day, again, brought to us all
by this unique and loving vehicle called an SSR! So,in closing I would like to give our many thanks to Gino & Rose, for hosting this special event! Thanks Guys
PS: Don't forget fanatics,RSVP to Glenn & Jack for their awesome Mt St Helens run August 1st,2009,see their post in Pacific NW Region!
