Update to March Spring Opener>>>>>

Hello Fanatics:Well,it's just about a day away from our Pacific Northwest Spring opener and we have a great anticipated turnout! FYI,I spoke to the owner of Bergstrom's Garage today and he is going to open the Garage/Museum
for us between 11:00-3:00PM.He normally is closed this time of the year, but I asked if he would make an exception for us fanatics,so I thought that was very considerate of him! There is quite the history behind this garage and the Rakers car club. You should read the story linked to the Rakers car club.Very cool!!The basic jist is that the old man Bergstrom would let the newly founded car club "Rakers" hold their meetings once month at his garage and they could also work on their hot rods there! What a neat guy hey! It's the history behind all these events that make it most interesting to visit and in doing so, allow us to share a bit of current history, while appreciating the small town beauty and character that helped carve out the incomparable car club/car enthusiaum that has permeated Americana, especially during the fifties and up to today across this once great American experiment.

We will drive down the st to Adams st. turn left go to the stop sign turn right
and should be right there at 809 Washington st.Bergstrom Antique/Car Musuem.ETA approximately 1:00-1:30PM Sunday,21st,2010

PERMAGRINS ALWAYS Fanatics>>>>>>>>>.

Excellent work Hal sounds like a great way to spend an hour or so after lunch. Speaking of food, any good pizza places around your neighborhood for a saturday night meal?

Actually. You guys are approximately a quarter of a mile from us on the same street (Bay St) heading west,is Kitsap Cty Bank, just turn right out of the parking lot and your three minutes away from us! I must admit,I was curious about you coming, but I know you guys,if there is a way you would figure it out to make our SSR Spring Opener to Port Townsend on the bay!Great news!! See ya Sunday!
Hal Has anyone created an itinerary for this event? My co pilot is asking. Let me know, thanks

Hello Tony: Well this event will start from two locations.Edmonds,Wa and Port Orchard,Wa. As you know those coming from the south and west of Washington will be at Kitsap cty Bank Parking lot 619 Bay st,P/O at 9:30AM,we plan on leaving there at 9:45 sharp for Hood Canal bridge, where we will meet up with Sue(tickledpink) and her group of seven ssr's at 10:30 sharp on the east side of the bridge, just before the entrance etc. From there we cross the puget sound waters and head up WA104 approcimately 6.7 miles to WA19 where we make a right turn taking us up to Port Townsend.I have printed maps to hand out in P/O just in case.We should arrive in port Townsend around 11:15-11:30 depending how long we stop at a safe area along WA19.
We will head to the Bay View restaurant for lunch, leave there between 12:30-1:00PM and drive down the st a ways to Bergstrom Garage/Museum.After we leave there we can declare a free time to explore the town on our own and all be back at a certain time and place TBD to caravan homeward,It's a day triper, only so much time in a afternoon>>>>See ya Sunday!

PS: I liken these events to life,it's not so much, just the destination, but all that encompasses the journey as well>>>>>>.

Thanks Hal for our first 2010 adventure

Hal,
It turned out to be a beautiful day in the Pacific Northwest and a great start for many more 2010 SSR adventures.....and thank you Hal and Tony!!! After everybody left Port Townsend for either their ferry ride East across Puget Sound or South along the Kitsap Peninsula, Linda and I took the very scenic route down the West side of Hood's Canal....topless!!! Passed through the small Oyster harvesting/fishing communities of Quilcene,Brinnon,Liliwaup Hoodsport,Potlatch,Skokomish,Union, Allyn and back to S.R.16 at Port Orchard. A very beautiful ride down a quite Highway 101 with long straight aways. Many State Parks, scenic pullovers,picnicking/pit stops.Linda and I would strongly recommend this scenic loop as a great summer day trip for anyone interested. Again, thanks for putting together a great start for 2010.

Ray: The run you took home was last year's Spring opener! It is really fun when there are summer temperatures>> We will do it again,it's so beautiful
winding around and thru those small waterfront communities.
