Northwest SSR's Invitation to RUMBLE !!!

WEATHER PERMITTING !!! Sunday, March 9th

Ah, yes, the Northwest SSR Group is stirring again after a long long winter, so circle your Calendars for Sunday, March 9th for a Very Special Invitation to meet our two SSR couples who design & build Parade Floats at their "barn" in Fife, WA. Glenn & Carol Whaley and Jack & Sandi Angeline have invited us to tour their construction facilities to see the Daffodil Parade float as volunteer teams begin applying special seed & herbs in preparation for the live flowers which will be done just before the Parade in April. The float they are building is one that travels throughout the Pacific Northwest and Canada for the 2008 festival season.

Weather permitting, we plan to meet at Camping World in Fife at 10:00 am on Sunday morning. Hal will "herd" the SSR's from his Southern end, the northern SSR's will meet at South Center, the Bahama Breeze Restaurant at 9:30 am sharp. Our tour guides will meet us at Camping World at 10:00 Sharp. We plan to tour the "barn" and then gather for lunch !!!

Please let me know if you plan to join us as I can then contact you if there be a need to change plans !! This is a wonderful chance to see these floats as they take shape !!

We all survived the Gig Harbor monsoon,I think a few showers won't hurt us,besides,the meet & greet is worth the clean up,don't you agree fanatics?!

If it rains,we'll all be aqua blurrrr!!!

9:30, then caravanning to Camping World in Fife....... the other group is coming from across the Narrows Bridge to meet us in Fife !!

for our SSRfans who are addicted to washing their trucks, be happy as it looks like the "California rain" may hold out long enough to let us make a DRY run to Fife, Puyallup and vicinity on Sunday !!

Set your clocks ahead and meet us on Sunday, 10:00 AM at Camping World in Fife !!

Hello Nw SSR fanatics: I hope you can join us this Sunday for our Rumble to
Puyallup,Hey wait a minute,where are we going and what is the agenda Sue city Sue? She is full of surprises you know!

Let me tell you a funny story,at least to us older ssr custodians,I get an e-mail from a newcomer,and he says ,hey Hal,Iam looking forward to going to a Rumble,heck,it's been 40 years since I 've been to a good rumble!

I know he said it in "Jest" but for you younger bunch of fanatics,Rumble in the fifties and sixties meant a fight
amongst High Schools,been to a few,but usually the leader of the pack faced off with the big guy from the opposition and we all stood around and hoped like hell our guy would prevail(knock him out) so we all didn't have to fight!
Looking back,sure was stupid,my thing was drag racing,I chose to be a lover not a fighter!

It gave me a cool flashback,thought I would share it with you!
Iv'e been on a fifties nostalgia thing this last week for some reason?! I replyed back to assure it was more like exhaust rumble from our ssr's enroute to a event,not a Rumble,Rumble!

Anyway,hey,hey what ya say,meet us at camp world at 10:00AM this Sunday
for a nice little spring opener to 2008 SSR fun-run and meet and greet event!

A wonderful DRY day for getting together with our Northwest SSR's at the invitation of Glenn & Carol, Jack & Sandi to view the Hi-Tech Mobile Parade Float designed and built by Jack & Glenn. The float was created to fold up and drive into a 50' Semi Trailer for transport to all 2008 Northwest Parades & Festivals, representing the Daffodil Court from the Puyallup area. Great team of Volunteers !

A ZIPPY two hour TOPLESS cruise through the farms and neighboring little towns was great fun, and included an educational stop for our SSR Historian, Ray (Rafferd) to relate the history of a conflict with Native Americans and US troops in 1835.

The Cruise was followed by a fabulous BBQ feast & Social Hour in the Party Barn adjacent to the "Float Barn". The former Mayor of Fife, Mike did the honors of cooking our dinner for us !!

Thank you Whaley's & Angeline's for hosting our Northwest "Coming Out Party for 2008", for your warm hospitality and great tour of the area !!

Sue, and the rest of the SSR's lucky enough to make the event !!

Keep an eye on our New Threads as our Northwest SSR group is getting excited about having an event every other month or so, with lots of new sign-ups for Penticton, June 19-21st !

Thanks for suggesting we get together for the Fife run. Carol and I truly enjoyed meeting everyone again and welcoming some new members to our "Unofficial" NW SSR Organization. What a fun group we have. Now all you have to do is work on setting up another fun run.
