Hosts with the MOST !!!
A Big THANK YOU to our Hosts !!
Our great hosts planned our day in such a way that we were able to see and do everything BEFORE the outside temperature hit 91 degrees under an awesome blue sky !!
Jack & Sandi (GO N BYBY) made wonderful arrangements for a fabulous day's event for 23 SSR's from the Pacific Northwest SSR Group - 6 of whom were NEWBIES! Jack & Sandi, along with Glenn & Carol (RedRacr) who assisted in overseeing that all of us arrived where we were supposed to be, are volunteers who have designed and built the traveling float for the famous NW Daffodil Parade, so they are experts at Parades and Caravans!
Our thanks go to these special teams for a wonderful visit to the LeMay Car Museum; a surprise stop to see the North American Eagle getting ready to break the land speed record (introduced to us by Gino & Rose), followed by a great lunch gathering at Thun airfield in Puyallup !

Is that a "sparkling" I see in these pictures? Glad you all had such wonderful weather - was almost as good as ours out here in VA on our winery run - I think we hit about 76 for our high. That's a nice picture above with Rainier in the background - my closest girlfriend and her husband live on Vashon, and have a home with a lot of windows and a perfect view of Rainier from their living room.
Maybe one of these days NauticalDave and I will make it out that direction in . But first come WDC '08 and Texas '09. And a few runs in between.

Sights to Make you smile - from the inside out !!
How the excitement spreads as we view our beautiful trucks all in a row - and then to go back in History to view what once was, in the Automobile Industry, our forefather's lives, and to some - even our own life's Memories !! Some day it would be fun if the SSRfans would sign in and list the Vehicles they have owned in their lives !!
The Northwest sun was sooooooo bright, Redline Red turned very orange with the sun's glare !
Here are a few of my Memories - Forever Alive in My Mind's Eye!

Well, Shannon and I just wanted to drop a line to say thank you so much for allowing us to join your enthusiastic group. We had a wonderful time yesterday, especially when meeting such a great group of friends. It was quite the experience. Shannon has added the SSR pics to her photobucket account, and is now loading the pics from LeMay.....

Hal's Great Summary of our LeMay Adventure:
Hello to all SSR fanatics: Well , another great day to be recorded in the history book of Northwest SSR Fanatic adventures and treks etc! We started the day all meeting at Camping World in Fife ,WA along the I-5 corridor a colorful group as you can imagine, bunch of beautiful SSRs from all over Western Washington and two new fanatics from Oregon too! The weather was unbelievable, at 7:30AM it was already 68 degrees, so that was naturally a instant top down day for all of us. After we all gathered in Fife and had a short fifteen minute meet & greet, we herded our iron steeds (22 ssrs) and headed them toward our first destination, the internationally renoun LeMay Car Museum. This drive took about twenty minutes along Pacific Ave in Tacoma ,WA and then a left turn onto 152nd St to the 87 acre estate of the tenth largest gabage company in the USA. There we lined our SSR's on the grassy apron in front of the Old brick museum. There is a lot of history behind the beginning of this museum by Harold LeMay, but too long for this thread to expound, much of the interesting facts and history behind this unique automobile museum are available online for your information. I must say, the museum, is unlike any other car museum I have been to before. Harold liked buying firetrucks and military vehicles as well as classic treasures, over 3800 vehicles are stored in various buildings on this huge 87 acre estate. Harold liked buying vhicles in an original, non restored state at first, simply because they were cheaper to buy.
He started his massive collection in 1964, as his garbage business grew, and with the comensurate growth of wealth, Harold began buying vehicles that were in a more pristine condition. He also started acquiring some extremly rare types of automobiles and trucks, a very facinating place to visit. Our tour guide "Mike" was a very knowledgeable fellow, sometimes I thought a bit windy, but maybe that was because I was feeling a little tired from walking in the 90 degree heat, drank lots of water yesterday, that gave me a constant urning to visit the litle boys room etc.LOL Anyway, fanatics, I think most of us found this Museum to be a fun and unique expierience for sure! After a group photo, that I don't have yet, we then powerd our beautiful rumbling ssr's onto another venue, actually a surprise. One of our new fanatics, Gino & Rose from Spanaway, treated us all with a stop at the hangar, where low and behold a group of very committed race enthusiasts are building a jet vehicle, from the actual fuselage of a F104 fighter aircraft, that was used to fly chase for the x-15. This project has the highest hopes of taking the World Land Speed record away from the British, currently held at 763MPH. The driver of this incredible machine is Ed Sandle. He and a his crew chief and several regular volunteers, Gino being one of them, have been working on this project for ten years. This guy, Ed, is no spring chicken, he looks close to my age, a whole new definition of gonads in my book! Ed God bless you and all that are doing to break this world land speed record! After a very informative talk about the project by Ed Sandle, we all took off (aircraft no); to Thun field, and it's restaurant there where all had an opportunity to satisfy a hardy appetite, conjured up by several hours of walking, standing and driving etc!
We all enjoyed a tasty lunch. Sue(tickledpink)Wagonmaster, gave a coming events anouncement and introduced many of our new wonderful members to our ever growing Northwest Fanatics SSR Group! After lunch we broke up the gathering and headed back home with more great memories to hold onto and more strangers turned into family fanatics! Ain't it just grand!! Long live the "FFF"friendly fanatic forum! and "PERMAGRINS" always! Thanks to Jack & Sandi, Glenn & Carol, Gino & Rose, and our Wagonmaster, Sue for another oustanding job of organizing this fun time for us all!! On behalf of all who attended, may I say Thank You!!
