Road Trip - Vancouver Island, WA & Oregon

We are on a little road trip and wanted to let the Pacific Northwest members know in case I happen to pass you somewhere along the way.

We left Gibsons on Saturday, September 17 and headed over to Nanaimo. We met up with Steve ("Tug Boat") in Nanaimo and he passed over a Silver diecast he has been saving for me for some time. Thanks Steve!
We then headed off to Victoria to visit friends and shop. Great weather and the top has been down the whole time!

Tomorrow (Wednesday, Sept 21) we take the Black Ball ferry to Port Angeles. If we would have been able to leave a day earlier we could have met up with HALLSSSR and the others who were doing their road trip. From Port Angeles we will drive down the coast highway and hope to get to Cannon Beach. Can anyone recommend a good place to stay around Cannon Beach (reasonalble price)?
On Thursday we will head off to the Portland area and hope to do some Outlet Mall shopping. Any suggestions as to where the best outlet shopping is? Anything else I should check out while I am in the area?
Friday or Saturday we will head up to Seattle and if we have any money left we may do more shopping Where is the best place to shop?
Sunday we will head back to Canada and Gibsons.

Hi Don,

Nicolette and I have always enjoyed the Tolovana Inn which has a great view of Haystack Rock and a nice long beach. As for outlet shopping, Woodburn, south of Portland, has the best selection. If you wanted to head south along the coast, Lincoln City has an outlet mall as well. While in Portland, the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Area is a can't miss. Just take exit 17 off I-84E and enjoy the waterfalls and natural beauty. There are plenty of other options here, but these would be my suggestions.

Good luck in your travels and enjoy!

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll check out the Tolovana Inn on the internet. Someone else told us about the Woodburn Outlets and it looks like a winner! If we have time, we'll do a little sight seeing!

Woodburn Outlets - yes! no tax there eh
Dwight (Bluestreak) will be with us on Sunday (the weekend, for a few days). Looks like a rainy forcast. Not sure if we'll just stay in or be touring around.

... and the best part Sandy is that I have a pocket full of US money that I converted when the Canadian exchange was at $1.06

The weather forecast for the next few days in Washington and Oregon looks pretty good. Oh well... I guess that means I'll be FORCED to leave the roof down again!

Dinner at Big Foot in Seaside!!!!

Hi Don & Gwen !!

The Big Foot Restaurant in Seaside is really excellent........ our SSR Group had a delicious array of excellent food when we traveled the Oregon Coast several years ago! It is located a bit south of the main center of Seaside, on Hiway 101 next to Motel 6.
