Rock chips leaving penticton on the 97 connector

Did any one get their trucks blasted with rock chips when leaving Penticton on their way home on the 97 connector between Peachland and vancouver.? We came upon hiway paving and lots of fine gravel , slowed down till we could get out of it ,but the back sides and the nose of my ssr look like swiss cheeze as iits been blasted with rocks .even my new rockers have been chipped . Oh well thank god i have a good Insurance company who will take care of it all . Nows the time for the cowl hood and some real flames .
I managed to drive the hope Princton hiway there which is a bit of a cow trail and did not get a mark ,then i drive the nice new 97 and get blasted . Sort of reminds me of in the spring when i got $6700.00 worth of rock chips on my new toyota truck when i went sking at sunpeaks which is on the #5 hiway
Luckily comprehensive claims for this sort of thing do not increase your insurance rates up here

Next year you will see me coming in bubble wrap

I drove the route and came out relatively unscathed. We turned off at Merritt towards Kamloops and took 5A. Thought for sure I was hit again. There was sand on a short section of the road, and luck would have it, a semi went rushing by. Could hear the tinks, but can't find any damage. Luckily I hit the brakes and was down to about 30 kmh when the truck went by.

Once you get your flames, you are going to have to invest in a bra. Still have to phone my insurance company to see if they will deal with the rock chip damage from last year.

I've always recommended driving the Hope Princeton between Penticton and Vancouver. Very scenic, much lower and warmer, and a fun drive.

The Coquihalla is so high up that it can get snow into June and still freeze at night. A bit unusual to see that much sand at this time of year, unless it was really cooling down at night. If the nose got blasted, either that supercharger wasn't working, or someone else was really booting it to get past you.

I usually wait till a passing vehicle gets close, then bail out really quickly so he can get past me as soon as possible.

For anyone coming from Washington or further south, coming through Wenatchee and Osoyoos will avoid any such issues.

They were paving on the Kelowna connector and I did see some loose grave. Also, when we drove the Coq on Tuesday, they were shouldering but the lane was closed and a sweeper was right behind the grader.

DriveBC.ca is a good place to check for ongoing construction. Reality is, any road trip is going to give you a few rock chips.

The problem was we got onto the free way and we came onto an area that they were paving three lanes wide , we were in the middle and we had two long streams of pee gravel that they had poured where the white lines should be , i slowed right down but i could hear little rock tinks on the rear quarter panels and then two vehicles blazed past me on either side and it was a rock shower.
We topped up the tank in merrit and i didn,t notice anything till our clean up person at work washed my truck and pointed out the damage , its not major but i did an initial estimate for my Insurance co and its sitting at 4800.00 to start . While i am at it i filed a second claim for the rt side wheels that i curbed a few months ago and at 2500.00 cdn for 2 chrome wheels i will use that for some different rims . Hopefully i can buy the old ones back for salvage ,as they only have a little nick in the chrome edge.
I will drive it for the summer and worry about it in the fall . I have a great paint crew who have done many show winner cars ,but you never want to work on your own
I must agree the #3 or Hope Princton is much better and is fun to drive with many turns and hills , we always take the #3 to get there but we use the 97 then #5 Coquahalla back as it saves 3 hours but next time there and back will be on the # 3 .The #3 is more supercharger friendly too,
I am planning on being in penticton from tuesday till Tuesday next year so if you need a hand for the SSR Fanatic stuff you can count me in as your 1st volunteer

Sunday was a blast , the trip down to Oliver was awsome ,touring wineries and driving the back roads were sort of like when we were younger, care free no schedules , just having a good time . I could move up there in a second , become a resident wino, tour wineries all day and at night live in a tent in Rays front jard , throw my empties over the cliff onto the freeway below ,while my SSR is parked in his garage .
We must do this again !!!!

I left on Sunday so I guess I got lucky and they weren't working on the road.
Glad everybody had a good time in Penticton,
I sure did. Hopefully next year also.

two tone would look great . You should take a picture and edit in a art or color program to see what it looks like
By the way sorry we didnt get out for a run but the weekend flew right by ,but i did find out my speedo is out by about 10 % due to the 4.10 gears . I will send out my computer this week to westers and they can deal with it .
The corvette servo goes in monday but due to headers and the s.c they will have to loosen motormounts and exhaust to get the trans to move enough to get the servo in . Good thing I live in BC ,as BC means "BRING CASH"
