ROSLYN Memories - HOT TIMES in an Old Town
Northwest SSR Fanatics braved the HEAT WAVE to attend the Roslyn (TV's Northern Exposure was filmed here) weekend SSR Cruise, Picnic, Party, Show, and BRIGHT SUNSHINE to gather in a very beautiful place to spend time together for some hilarity and games !!
The following photos will describe a bit of our adventure - notice we were graced by a nice surprise guest who had a bit of time before returning home to Pasadena, and caravanned with us 1 1/2 hours to the NW Cascade Mountains for dinner !
1 - Tickled Pink's trunk is full of Surprises!
2 - Dwight plays Sherpa at our NON-AIR CONDITIONED NOT-SO-RITZY Motel
3 - Cindy & Sara - Cocktail Party - room hotter than the outside air !
4 - Brian & Dwight
5 - Peter & the FAN BROUGHT FROM CANADA - no room for clothing in their DRAGN 2 SSR !!!
NOTE: With the exception of Dwight (who wasn't driving his SSR) EVERYONE who came to Roslyn had attended the 2008 Penticton Peach City Beach Cruise put on by Ray (Flassh) !! That should tell everyone how incredible this Pacific Northwest SSR Fantastic Family is, and how much fun we have together !! I am VERY Proud and TICKLED !

Things just begin to HEAT UP !!!!!
We were met by Mark & Roberta (FireChaser) our wonderful Roslyn Hosts, on the way to the Old #3 Tavern owned by Clay (Nascar Flamed SSR) - No idea it was a BIKER BAR - NO AIR CONDITIONING..... !!!! Oh well, we were there for an ADVENTURE !!!
1 - Bluestreak meets Clay at his BIKER BAR (Clay's Nascar SSR was stolen and hidden by his soon-to-be-EX wife)
2 - Roberta & Mark ready to lead the group !
3 - Redracer, Glenn & Carol - Happy with their ROOM at the NOT SO RITZY !!!
4 - Peter, Cindy & Dwight
5 - Jack, Sandi, Sara & Brian
Dinner at the Air Conditioned Restaurant next to the NOT SO RITZY Motel was really tasty and the room cooled most of the group down just in time to get ready for a HOT TIME IN THE OLD TOWN Friday Night !!! Dwight departed for his 1 1/2 hour drive back to Seattle. Continuing evening HOT TEMPs sent everyone to their Motel OVEN's for an early evening of attempted sleep while listening to the dog across the street serenade us nearly all night !
How grateful everyone was that their "Wagon Master" had called to find out about air conditioning and was able to encourage them to pack a fan with them !!!

Saturday's Tour, Cruise, BBQ Picnic along the Cle Elum River
Early morning arrivals of more SSR's added a lot of color and fun to our already gorgeous group - Mark (Jester), John & Pat (Raiders), Larry & Lynelle (EZMONEY) and our Newbies, Brian & Becky (SMOKNSSR). Mark & Roberta led our group of 10 SSR's on a grand tour of the area around Roslyn and Cle Elum. We caravanned over the river and through the woods to the newest 5-Star Resort in Washington, Suncadia with its many golf courses, convention areas, water slide parks, and restaurants.
From there we crossed over I-90 into the hillsides with farms, horse ranches and incredible rolling pastures. After a stop overlooking a fabulous mountain range running east & west, we picked up our beautiful Pacific Blue couple, Ray & Linda (Rafferd) continuing on through the canyon along Lake Cle Elum ( reservoir for Seattle water) to our destination in the shade under the canopy of grand Pine Trees at Salmon La Sac, for a group BBQ and Picnic.
1- NOT SO RITZY MOTEL - Remember, it will be a GREAT Memory !!
2 - SSR's looking so awesome !!
3 - Meet DRAGN 2 - and the Mr & Mrs !!
4 - SMOKINSSR, Brian - came to Penticton and had to have his own SSR !!! It's too shiny to photograph !
5 - Early morning sunshine - Ready to roll: 2 best friend's, 2 beautiful SSR's - the Angeline's & the Whaley's !!! Lucky us to have them in our group!!

More Roslyn Adventure for Saturday
Continuing with photos of our Saturday's Cruise and Scenery !!
1 - Cruising through the tall Pines toward Suncadia........
2 - Notice the lack of underbrush - imagine the happy faces riding TOPLESS in the early morning SUNSHINE (with their air conditioners ON)
3 - Douglas Fir is most known as the dominant evergreen tree of the Pacific Northwest - it grows big, very tall, straight, and dense. More board feet of lumber is available from the native Douglas Fir than any other tree. It has a 50 year cycle, so it becomes very important to re-forest after logging. If the logged area is not re-forested in a timely matter, the deciduous Alder becomes the climax tree taking over the exposed area. New research has recently found that Alder trees unfortunately give off nitrogen which leeches into to soil and ground water, becoming deadly to fish & sea life in Puget Sound by causing dead zones.
4 - More scenes from the DRY side of Washington State!
5 - It's getting HOTTER and HOTTER !!!!

PICNIC and BBQ in the heart of the Pacific Northwest
Wish all of you could have been here to share this fun gathering..... here are a few more photos to encourage you to join us anytime, any place !! Northwest SSRs are on a ROLL !
The setting was incredible - the last spot left for picnicking - shade from the Pines, bit of a breeze from the river and lots of GOOD PARKING for our NW SSR group and incredible trucks. Everyone brought food to share while Mark & Roberta hauled the BBQ, Doggies and all ! Mark (Jester) was kind enough to carry the HUGE Hot Dog Buns in his EMPTY trunk, and the buns arrived heated as though from God's own Oven ! Linda (Rafferd) created a YUMMY Pasta Salad that received lots of approval from the group - John (raiders) sliced all the melons with the machete he normally wears in his belt and exerted so much energy he had to dip his clothing in the river to cool off !! First time I have EVER seen him without a hat -
(Bet you thought I was going to say CLOTHES !!!)
The table was piled high with wonderful food to share, and of course the COOLERS were quickly un-loaded first to quench thirsts
1 - SSRs looking awesome in the gorgeous Pine Forest
2 - Jack, Sandi, Carol ready for the Picnic !!
3 - Relaxing with a Cool One
4 - Leavenworth Newbies, Brian & Becky - what a nice addition to our Northwest SSR Family
5 - Larry & Lynelle - Leavenworth SSR's bringing a lot of Pride to our PERMAGRIN Family

Last but NOT LEAST of my photos... but not my Memories !!
The wonderful morning Cruise was about 3 hours, so when we all arrived at our Picnic destination, everyone was tickled to see the beautiful place Mark picked out for our BBQ. Here are my final photos to share, along with HEARTFELT Thanks & Appreciation to each and every one of you for making our Northwest SSR Group such a fabulous family !!
1 - Mark slaving over his HOT STOVE
2 - Roberta serving up the viddles and making sure everyone has whatever they need or want
3 - Mark guarding the Strawberries
4 - Brian & Sara proudly wearing their one-of-a-kind SSR Bibs (Embroidered personally by Roberta - with their names, SSR logo & BumbleBees) as we all say Bon Voyage from the Pacific Northwest SSR Fantastic Family to send them off to their new home in Colorado where Sara will open her own Dental Practice ! Lucky SSRfans in Colorado - take good care of our darling Teenie-Boppers, Brian & Sara (Ole Yeller).
5 - Cindy & Peter wearing their promotional SSR Drive-In Tee Shirts to encourage more to sign in on this event which promises to be a real HOOT ! Peter & Cindy will graciously be hosting the fabulous SSR weekend in Beautiful British Columbia tho' they know not if they will have a home to live
In closing, I want to express my gratitude to everyone for joining in this adventure, regardless of the HEAT WAVE. Mark & Roberta spent lots of time organizing & planning everything for our pleasure...... who knew someone would take the lid off the FRYING PAN and put our beautiful cool green state under the BROILER!! None the less, those of you who committed to attend this event - regardless of the weather, get HERO Medal's from me ! Turns out, I ended up being the WEENIE Heat is not my best friend, so with the aid of gallons of GatorAid, I did make it home without a problem so I could hide inside my air-conditioned home and feel sorry for myself that I had to beg out..... Just want you to know it was not easy to cry wolf and head home, but for once the Senior Moment mentality had sense enough to know BIG trouble was brewing......... Finally at 10:00 am on Sunday my body temperature finally simmered down close to normal so I could at least get these things posted for your enjoyment...... Can't wait to hear all of your stories and see your photos too..... looking for the one of Mark and the Fire Engine !!
Thanks for being so special........ What FUN - WOW !
Lucky me,
Sue

I have to post my comments.
This is a great bunch of Fanatics who are always tryiing to grow the group. They were most hospitable to this outsider from the south. I participated in their car show at Port Orchard and then barged in on their dinner at Roslyn and they seemed genuinely happy to have me. I am only sorry about one thing, I was unable to stay for all the other adventures planned for the weekend. It looks like it was a lot of fun.
Sue, I am sorry I brought the heat from the south but I am happy to hear you managed to get cooled down. Hope you will forgive me and let me come back again. Your pictures are better than any of mine so I will not be posting any from this part of the trip
Dwight

If you do what you've always done,
You'll get what you've always gotten.
Thank you so much for everyone who attended. It was so nice to have you all BROIL in the heat with us. We had a great time all things considered and again thanks to our wonderful friends in Washington and Canada.

We have lots of great memories, stories to tell and always nice to visit with everyone - thank goodness for the air conditioned lounge and restaurant. Peter is known for his pranks and I really appreaciate of all you for getting him good at the car show - you did get him! I don't know how to post pictures - sorry I'll have to learn.
