So my wife bought me a SSR for Christmas. So after driving it around for a few weeks I've realized I know NOTHING about this vehicle (except its fun). So I'm looking for someone who may want to give me a tour of my ride. It's a 04 in red. Possibly a "known car" out of the Portland area.
I live in Tumwater/Olympia so Tacoma, Puyallup, Kent, Gig Harbor etc. would be great.
So if someone would like to meet up some weekend teach me a bit and let me in on what I need to watch out for I'll buy lunch.
My SSR: 05 red and white pearl two-tone and 05 blur with chameleon ghost flames and Magna charger.
Why don't you drive down to Orlando. We can have lunch with some central Florida fanatics, talk cars and I'll even wash it for you before you head back home. Who knows you might decide to stay.

welcome to the Fanatics!
There are a number of SSR owners in your area...I once saw a red 04 in the Auburn area but never did meet the owner. I'm sure someone will come forward soon to take you up on that lunch date

You have come to the right place. There are WA fanatics that will read this thread just have patience.

You've found the nicest bunch of mixed nuts on the net.
There's a great gang there in the PNW.... They'll certainly take you up on the offer, but don't expect them to let you buy the lunch..... In the meantime, spend some time browsing this forum. The best information on the SSR is located here.
Regards from the desert

Hello Bill,
Welcome to SSR information repository with a bunch of great people.
Using the Google search option above (not the page search in the orange bar), you will be able to find most anything you want know about our GM novelty vehicles.
Don't get too involved with the "could go wrongs". I have seen many different issues, failures, breakages etc. posted but I really do not think it is any more of any issue than any other vehicle line. Ever noticed that the dealership garages are full of new cars being repaired. The issues we do have can be magnified because of the limited number sold, few mechanics have actually worked on them.
My now has 83,000 miles and has been my daily driver for 5 years now. In that time the only required repairs have been a grommet on a shift cable, instrument gauge step motors, fuel pump (for the sending unit) and a battery. That said, I have spent a bucket load buying items I wanted to add or to upgrade.

Hi and Welcome,
There are actually quite a few Fanatics up in greater Seattle area. Sue, aka Tickled Pink, is the ringleader/wagonmaster if you will. Hal and Toni, aka Hals SSR, Glenn and Carol, aka Red Racer, Donnie and Lynn, aka Donnys05SSR, Mark, aka Jester, JD, aka Corvtpu, and Art and Lucky, aka hdflstf, are all active members. They get together fairly regularly, so Sue would be the one to contact, just PM her.
I am in the Portland area, so, if you are headed down this way, just give a shout!
Sounds like you have the perfect wife and truck. Here is a link to a thread made by the great and powerful Wowfactor. Did you know...
Cool stuff that would take you years to figure out on your own. My favorite is that once the top is in motion you can roll the wheels(at low speed) great for sudden showers and looks crazy cool.
Welcome from Southwestern Indiana!! Sounds like you got a great Christmas gift. With this SSr you will meet some of the finest of people to be found!!!
Welcome from Texas. Great bunch of people here... oh, and does your wife have sister???

Welcome from another of the SoCal nuts. Just wanted to let you know my first road trip was only 1600 miles. When the onlly had about 1200 miles on it. The second one was 12,000 miles and they have only gotten longer. Have fun. I now have 140,000 on my
I thank you all for this warm reception. I've been looking through old posts all day and trying to take in all the info. I've never been a gear head. In fact I hate to work on cars but this may change a bit with this truck. The fun versus need may factor into the equation. I do not see any reason to believe my SSR will need anything other than wanted upgrades but as with anything there are sure to be fixes needed. As for now I plan to drive drive drive.
I look forward to meeting many of you at various events in the coming year, years, and decades.

Hey Bill----you won't be the 'newbie' for long!! I was where you are just 2 months ago as a new R owner & it seems like just yesterday but these trucks are SO UNIQUE they demand your attention.
But the BEST part is the PEOPLE here that you will get to meet so DO NOT HESITATE to do so whenever you possibly can.
So make yourself at home!
