I have finally recovered enough to post about our trip. Whew. Three states - parts of Washington, Oregon, Idaho - in roughly eight days...well...the first 48 hours were in the Seattle area alone. We covered a lot of territory!
Unfortunately, I did not have time to contact TickledPink, which was a disappointment to me.
I had forgotten how long the days are "up north." Between the sun rising at something that seemed like 4:30 AM (OK, slight exaggeration

) and the sky not becoming fully dark until something that seemed like 11:00 PM (OK, slight exaggeration

) I was not getting a lot of sleep - why waste daylight, right?!!
But, with all to see and do, there was still time for a

sighting! While stopped along the road, geocaching in a deep lava bed, on the Carey, ID side of Craters of the Moon National Monument, Joe (aka joebids) said, "Look!" He pointed as a

drove past us.
I so enjoyed the views of the sound and the lakes around Washington, the trees, the giant ferns, the green grasses, the mountains, the glaciers on the peaks, the seemingly endless flows of lava in Idaho, the cooler temperatures and/or the lower humidity levels, the broad vistas on the western prairies of the Columbia Plateau, the ocean views from an overlook on the Oregon coastline, and even the occasional puff of smoke on Mt. St. Helens (kinda scary). I had a great time on the trip. It is a beautiful part of the country. I could have stayed there a few weeks. I need to win the Lottery so I can return whenever I like!
