Passing of a friend...
Sad news, I received this e-mail from Chick's buddy Gil this afternoon:
Our friend Charles "Chick " Hunt passed away last night at Lakeland Regional Hospital, He put up a good fight to the end, but the leukemia was just too much for him, he had been battling it for over two years, as my best friend and ssr fanatic he will be sorely missed, questions e-mail me in a day or so when Jan has had time to think......."gil"
I am glad that I had the chance to get to know Chick since he moved to Florida. He was the biggest gear head you'll ever meet, he was always upbeat and faced his problems head on and with a sense of humor. He was a great guy. I will miss him.

Not screaming in terror like his passengers"!
Regards, Chick - Live Strong
I LMAO when I first read that and passed it along to my son's who have been subjected to some of my less than legal driving habits more often than they liked I am sure.
I always felt Chick's posts made me "want" to read them as they appeared to be full of excitement and always so upbeat considering what he was going through. Everything seemed so full of class, his Eagle avatar, his very pretty SSR which I often viewed in his gallery, his strength and love of life he struggled so hard for.
I know this may seem silly for I never met Chick but I know I would have liked him. May God Bless.

What a great loss!!!
In light of the news today.......I am also saddened.....and pray for his family.
I was never lucky enough to have met this wonderful man but like many of you I followed his posts and was always eager to hear of his current condition.........always hoping that a miracle would happen for him and his loving family His fight was a long one.....may he rest is peace.
CHICK was an inspiration to us all! I think it was that New Hampshire strength that made him so speical.
Never complained and excepted what life gave him. I am proud to say “He was a Friend”.
Some pictures to share during better times.

I didn't know this man, I knew of him. But still,.. looking at the pictures and seeing the happiness he had with others and the time spent with his wife, and can only feel sorrow at his passing. Please pass along our condolences to his family from the Fox's.

Words can't express what I'm feeling. I never met Chick, but we've corresponded many times.....
Our hearts and prayers go out to him and his family, and I for one will not forget him. Everything else in life seems trivial with the news of his passing.
There's an empty feeling sweeping across me right now that is hard to describe and impossible to stop. I've corresponded and talked to Chick for the last couple years and his zest for life was an inspiration. He'll be missed by a lot of us.
My heart is breaking for Jan. I can't imagine the amount of love and support that lady has poured out since Chick was first diagnosed. She will be in our prayers, here, for some time. We'll be praying for some grace in her life.
I never met Chick but I always loved His posts. He also gave me some insperation to help me have a positive atitude during my condition. I will miss Him and add Him and His family to my prayers. May God Bless His Soul.
This is sad news and I’m kinda lost for words to say as you all have posted the same thoughts I have.
Please pass along our condolences to his family from Ellen & I.
God bless you and keep you strong. Chick meant so much to many of us, and helped us with our own "situations". I cherish his correspondence. Please know that you, too, are special to all of us.
This is terrible news!
Chick, it must be said, fought his cancer the same way he lived, his way! He loved Jan with every ounce of his heart. He was almost "silly lost" when she was not around, and she moved heaven and earth to always be with her Chick. They were a true pair.
You all did wonders for Chick and you have to know that his SSR and the people he met within this group gave extra meaning to his life especially when the news about his cancer got worse. He relied upon his SSR friends to help keep him focused on life!
I know that the group of Florida Fanatics and New Hampshire area Fanatics will be there for Jan and the rest of Chick's family. That is just the way you all are.
Chick, peace, brother.
You Lived Strong!

I am very sorry to hear that we have lost Chick in our midst but I know he is running topless in Heaven and will be watching over us as we watched over him. I have a sticker of his avatar eagle on my windshield which I received at Maggie Valley this year and it will stay there in remembrance until it is but a blank piece of paper.
You are missed Chick. Jan, you will always have a place in this group.

This is truly sad news. I only knew Chick through private messages we shared about his cancer, and my mother's cancer, but his attitude, his optimism, was still inspirational. As it always is with great men, our loss is Heaven's gain.

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.
Life is eternal, and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.
