Even though I'm crying as I type this I want to remember Chick as he is in the pics Dick posted. He and Jan were always upbeat and laughing and joking - the bright spot in your day when you saw them, even with all they were going through. I had the pleasure of having a long conversation with him two weeks ago about an experimental treatment he was starting, and he was so excited and optimistic even as he described it as a long shot. But there was a shot and he was taking it in hopes of being here with Jan for as long as possible (and at the same time laughing about how he and Jan had driven around with the top down the day before, wearing yellow masks because of Chick's immunity issues, and doing the AFLAC duck noise at other cars at red lights ). He is truly an inspiration.

I'm sorry I never had the chance to meet Chick in person, but I was inspired by his zeal and enthusiasm for life and living it to it's fullest. I will continue to keep his family in my prayers, his was a life that touched many.

You have to laugh at this.. and my God, the optimistic attitude toward life.

I'm sorry I missed not knowing this man.

Chick

This is so sad after all this man went through to fight for his life.

I met Chick and Jan about two years ago at an SSR gathering. They were so happy to be together.

Chick sure loved his SSR, but I'm sure he loved Jan more.

I will miss him...my thoughts and prayers are with Jan and family.

Rest in peace, my friend; I will see you on the other side someday....Mason

Chick

Have just read this thread, we first met Chick and Jan at Fantasy of Flight last year. Chick crammed in many enjoyable times in his brief spell of living here in Florida. Always had a positive attitude he will be missed. Our condolences to Jan.

I like so many other here never had the pleasure of meeting Chick. But as other have said, he really seemed to me as a man of men. Always upbeat even in the face of eternity. His "always looking at the bright side" made me look at some things in a different way. He's gone now to better things and he leaves behind a "family" that will always remember that knows him thru a "cute little truck". Our condolances to Jan and his family. Please know that we are with you in spirit, and in prayer. I'm sure if there is something that Jan needs that some of the "family" will find a way to lend a hand.

Jan, if you need us, we'll be there....

See ya in heaven my friend

I missed this post yesterday and am now trying to type this with a lot of tears. Chick was a great guy and his love for Jan, his family and friends and SSR was immeasurable. I was looking forward to the next Strawberry Shortcake with him at the Hot Biscuit. Rest in Peace Chick.

Like others have said, I never met Chick. However, I have found through this site that the support and friendship doesn't have to be "up close" to be real. Something about this bunch that is different than anything I've ever seen on the web. Jan, if you're reading these someday, my condolences to you in your loss.

Chick Will Be Missed.

I just turned on my computer this morning and saw that Chick has left us.
I am deeply saddened and wish condolences to his family and those friends lucky enough to have known him.
Chick was an inspiration to everyone on how to face adversity with dignity & grace.

Chick, May You Rest In Peace.
