Remembering Robert Wayne Hicks - Dailygolfer

Robert Wayne Hicks (1943 - 2010)
On June 25, 2010 at 10:52 a.m. Robert "Bob" Hicks lost his battle to colon cancer surrounded by his loving family, he passed away at home.

Bob was born Jan. 6, 1943 in Rochester, N.Y., to Lyle and Audrey Hicks. Bob was retired with the US Navy and Civil Service after a total of 47 years as a weatherman. Bob had a B.S. degree from the University of LaVerne and always had a second job while attaining it to make sure his family had all they needed.

Bob has many achievements, however, his greatest achievement was raising his family.

Bob is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandy Hicks, and children and spouses, Kim and Ed, Scott and Maria and Shaun and Eryn. Bob is also survived by eight grandchildren, Ed "Bubba", Jericho, Julien, Trevor, Shelby, Morgan, Hailey and Chase. Bob is also survived by his first great-grandchild due in November. Bob is also survived by his brother, Richard Hicks of Atlanta, Ga., and sister, Cheryl Tomassi of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Bob's greatest loves, aside from his family, were golf and his truck club SSR Fanatics.

Bob's family wishes to thank all the staff at Assisted Hospice, especially Billy, Rose, Maria and Jose. You made Bob's last days comforting. Bob's family also wishes to thank Dr. Keith Eilerman who did his best trying everything in his power to keep Bob with his family as long as possible. Also, Dr. Bilchek at the John Wayne Cancer Center, plus the many doctors at the Norris Cancer Center. Bob's family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to our extended SSR Fanatic family, especially Martin and Jeff, we couldn't have done it without all of you.

At Bob's wishes he was cremated. Bob's family would like to welcome you to a celebration of Bob's life with a luncheon at 1 p.m. on July 11 at the Del Prado Clubhouse, 1800 Del Prado Dr., Camarillo, CA 93010. If possible, please R.S.V.P. to Kim at 805-551-4635. Donations can be made to your favorite charity.

I was proud to be among those who shared our condolences with DailyGolfer's children in Colorado. I wish this was posted earlier to allow others to attend the luncheon. It is my hope that some knew of this and were able to attend and represent those who could not due to the timing of the event. I am sure the family know we all care very much about them.
