Good morning. Currently 65 degrees and wet outside.
We're getting either a little drizzle or lite rain here and there. Took wifie out for breakfast and it seem like everybody out today ... are you sure today Friday?

Afternoon.

Not a bad day today.... Started out chilly, but it's now in the 50's.

I live right in the middle of a curved street. So I get them from everyone.

But, I have a huge Self Propelled Leaf Vac. So I clean my yard and the street.

Not here either.

Besides... burning is such a waste (not to mention the totally unnecessary pollution it creates). I just mulch up the bulk of them with the mower and let the dust compost into the soil. I used to rake and blow them into piles to collect... not anymore.

No... I'm not kidding. I said "unnecessary" because there is no good reason leaves should be burned over mulching/composting. The haze in the air can linger like fog and it stinks, and of course, we have far far more trees up here than you do down there. Had I collected all of the leaves instead of shredding them to dust, the pile would have been as big as my truck. But the real reason it's not legal here is that it's unsafe because of the population/housing/vegetation density. There simply is not enough clear space to have a safe burn pile. One stray spark and next thing you know your house or your neighbors house is on fire.

cut grass is on the "to do" list today... trim the trees.. and burn the trimmings..

burn the trimmings is my way of decomposing quickly... take about 2 hours vs a full two years to naturally decompose...

I then spread the ashes in my garden...so I have a kick ash garden during planting season

country vs city life

Must be time for lunch. I'm hungry!

I got the truck and trailer cleaned and put away.
Ready for the next trip.

Might be Cincinnati in January.

The farmers around here have burn days where they can burn unused crops and yes, it stinks for days.

Yeah, I know it does it quickly... but the burning destroys most of the nutrient value.
