Does anyone know someone who can get the SSR Fanatics access to Jay Leno's auto collection? I know he grants limited access to other car fanatics such as the Model T Club.
Is there a way to invite him to the Laughlin Event? Just curious if any of you California SSR's have any connections? Maybe we could combine the Vette club and SSR's from the Vette's and SSR's to make a run to Cal to see the collection. There was over 300 cars at that gathering. Would be cool to carivan over and tempt Leno to show us his collection. In a perfect world we could take in the taping of the Leno Show in Burbank also.
Just dreaming outloud. I would help if someone can direct me in the right direction.
A friend of mine works in Wes Rydell's toy shop here in Grand Forks. He takes the Grand Master '35 Chevy around to various shows. (It's a million dollar car!)
Jay invited him in for a tour.
I wonder if it helps to be a multi-millionaire like Wes to get Jay's attention?
Jay does seem like a down to earth nice guy though. Maybe he'd let a group of "ordinary" folks in to see his stuff. But, maybe not too.
I'm told by some buddies of mine that you can find Jay riding one of his numberous of Motorcycle to "The Rock Store" on Mulholland Highway on a Sunday afternoon.

Great lead, however, I think I will try getting a lead through the Sun Country Corvette Club. Their club is much larger than the Fanatics with linkage to other Vette clubs.
No... Do I look like I fit in as an "ordinary" guy looking to see his stuff.
Have never meet you and look forward to meeting you, so do not know if you are an ordinary guy, I only posted this based on the thought most Fanatics, ordinary or not, would like to look at vintage car collection.
I have no idea of how to accomplish this, but I have always been told to ask your friends, they usually know more than one person knows.

He's ordinary enough. Quirky maybe.. I think he could chat up Jay just fine, given the chance.
I think we need to make a caravan trip to Burbank on a Friday for a taping of a Tonight Show. Connection with someone on Leno's staff to achieve special parking and group seating would be fun. Twisting an arm for a private showing of his cars on the following day would be way cool.
This is something to plan.... Maybe February or March event?
Just my 2 cents... thinking out loud....

Plus he lives closer to the spot mentioned.
Yeah I'm quirky alright. The problem with going to The Rock Store is you'll need to go both Sat and Sun for who know how many weekend before Jay even shows up. I'm sure their a better way to get ahold of Jay.

I was trying to help out your wife by getting you out of her way (I mean out of the house..).
I'm sure there is a better way, we just need to find it.

Doesn't Jay Leno have an SSR? SOmeone send him an invite to join us in Laughlin. The worst that can happen is he would say no. Leave it to a Texan to think of these things.

I have taken your perverbial gauntlet, and I went to the NBC website and sent a letter to the Jay Leno Show. If he responds I will post it.

Everyone has heard about Jay Leno's car collection, and the members of the SSR Fanatics website has recently been talking about it, and how much fun it would be to be able to experience it first hand. Then I remembered a show where Jay was outside burning rubber with an SSR, so we jumped to the conclusion that he might actually have one.
I mentioned that we may not get a chance to see all of his cars and trucks but maybe we could see him, so we wanted to invite Jay to bring his SSR to;
2nd Annual Laughlin / AVI Casino & Resort Run.
January 26th thru 28th 2007
I have sent an E-Mail to the NBC group tickets coordinator. Seems all you have to do is fill in a few facts on how many and a contact which I used my name and a Leno PR person responds. It has been 4 days with no contact yet, must be the holidays. I did get a confirmation E-Mail that we were in the Q and a contact would call or E-Mail.
I used the base number of 100 tickets, based on 50 SSR's (driver and passenger)from around the California, Nevada and Arizona states (everyone invited). This is just a starting number, I believe that once a date is established we will get much more. My thought 100 would get their attention for starters. If it does not than we can take a poll on how many Fanatics are interested.
Once I get a contact I can ask the other question on a desinated parking spot for our babies and particapation by Jay on the show. If I can get some possible times and dates we can advertise on the site and get caravans set to get to Burbank.
If all that works we can then ask Jay if he would entertain a visit to his collection. I will take the lead for now and ask anyone who can contribute to jump in. Based on everthing I read Jay is a very nice guy and a car nut.
I really like the idea of getting Jay an invite to all our events.
Also, once I get to talk to a real person I can get a feel for how many tickets it takes to get their attention, if bigger numbers are attractive we can entertain the thought of drumming up bigger numbers. I am sure we can get other car clubs to go. For now I would like to keep it to SSR's only.
Some of my thoughts, please add your thoughts and suggestions. Send me a PM if you do not want to post here, this is a work in progress.
