Over the years, I have used just about everyone. The most reasonable insurance I have found has been through Costco. They have signed on with AMERIPRISE. This year alone, I saved over $200 what I was paying Liberty Mutual, and I thought I was getting a good deal from them.

I've used Grundy for my '63 Olds Starfire for the last four years. Very easy to work with in terms of appraisal values and very low rates.
Keep in mind that Grundy is primarily a collectible car insurance comany, and they put restrictions on use (i.e., you can't use the insured car as a daily driver).
I don't know how they are with daily drivers. All of my daily drivers and SSR's are with American Family.

No Daily Drivers
Grundy is the oldest and one of the pioneers for collector car insurance and they have great rates and service, but they won't insure a car that is a daily driver. They require that you have another vehicle for daily use, although they don't limit the mileage on your collector car. They also examine photos of your car and keep current auction and resale logs to help come up with and "agreed value" for your collector car. I haven't thought of using them for my SSR, but might look into it.
Is anyone useing Gruandy Insurance for you car coverage ??? If so Do you like them there about 50% cheeper then State Farm ..
I use grundy for all my vech. 50 chev suburban 70 nova 66 newport 05 ssr
I could not afford what my insurance co. wanted $2,500 . On my regular vech. 94 chevy pick-up 03 montero they are fairly priced , for living jersey with high taxes and ins. you need to shop around !!!

unlimited mileage. I haven't bought the policy yet, just considering for now. They don't seem to be concerned about mileage, just that its not your daily driver.
Here is an Idea. Lets find an agent with them and maybe we can get a group or "club" rate??? I think if we go to an agent and say hey we have 50 people that want to insure with you it might make for a discount too!
what is grundy's record like when you need them? (ie collision repair, rental cars, free towing and other perks that are available from other insurers.)

From what I am told by a friend who uses them for his old vettes, their business model is built around car lovers and they handle claims direct with the repair shops that you both agree on. A big part of their business model is that the pool of owner who drive collector cars is a much lower rick that the general driving public, and we take better care of our cars. I'm still on the fence, but I would like for Ricochet to follow up on his query about a "group discount"
I repair cars for a living and have worked with dozens if not hundreds of ins. companys and you get what you pay for period!
Amen. The worst thing is when your car is in the shop and they are waiting for an appraiser or check from an insurance co before they do any work. The insurance co can take forever...and you can wait forever for your repair. And how are they for person injury issues & liability?
NO insurance company would provide Stated Value Insurance on my Mustang. Had to be 20 years old, garaged, so many miles per year.
Grundy MIGHT be reliable. But do not learn any " The Hard Way" lessons here. Research them. I'll still take State Farm. The Known vs The Unknown

Corvette Forum
I did a thread search for Grundy over on the Covette forum, got lots of hits, and after reviewing about 12 threads, did not see a single bad comment about them, everyone had good things to say. Hagerty meanwhile, had lots of complaints due to the restrictions on the use of the vehicle and how they settle claims. Just wondering if anyone can find an example of a shortcoming for Grundy?

I can provide a little insite on Grundy, I have a 1937 Ford Roadster I built over a 4 Year period, insured by Grudy Agreed Value $60,000.00 cost per year, $305.00, no limit on mileage (Trips to show events, wherever, local runs, no daily driver use, etc., must be garaged (who wouldn't anyways) Complete Liability Coverage........Of the 891 members of our Club about 75% are covered by Grundy. On a Trip to a National Street Rod run to Des moines IA, a member driving a 50 Chevrolet StreetRod, got struck by a person who ran a Light, with Police reports, and costs of towing vehicle home, from just south of Des moines IA to Georgia, it was onlytwo days later a representative showed up at the members residence, wrote a check for agreed value and towing fees, and allowed member to keep the car. So he wound up with a car with many valuable parts useable on any future projects. I can only add that that was proof enough for me about Grundy's Insurance program. GEICO took 10 days to complete a damage claim I once had on a personal car..............Rick
I had Grundy on two '57 Chevy's. Agreed Value is the way to go. I never had a claim. But the were a lot cheaper than State Farm and State Farm would not do agreed value. I didn't know they would do SSR's. Will have to look into it.
