The weather was finally starting to warm up, and I headed over to a friends house for some BBQ. After filling my belly with some good food and a few frosty beverages, I decided to hit the road and head back to the hacienda. I put the top down, adjusted the heater, put on some tunes, and hit the interstate. I couldn't have asked for a better evening for a cruise. I locked the cruise control down at about 65, and settled in for a nice drive. As I approached my exit, I reached down for the shift knob, and realized that something was amiss. There was something wet on the knob. I figured it may have been some sporadic rain drops, but the consistency wasn't right. Anyway, I continued down the off ramp and the remaining mile or so to the house. As I approached the traffic light by the house, I leaned to the right, and felt more "water". I figured I'd take a better look when I got home.
I arrive home, and pull into the garage. Now I'm able to take a look at what ever this is that all over the shifter and armrest. I start seeing little wet flecks on the shifter knob and boot. Upon closer examination I notice that probably at some point during my great ride, a feathered fiend, with a bowel problem decided to let loose. Unfortunately for me, I ended up being located directly at ground zero.
I'm actually quite amazed when I think of the probability of being struck in this manner. Traveling at 65 MPH, the gap between the windshield and the wind suppressor being no more than three feet, and being able to hit dead center on the waterfall. I should be impressed, but as you can see by the photos, the damage was horrific (Actually I had just cleaned the SSR). I managed to remove the fowl substance, and will be attending therapy to get over this stressful event in my life. I come here today, looking for support from my extended SSR family.
Thanks for bearing with me during this troubling time.
All hands on the poop deck.
If it was a seagull it'supposed to bring good luck, I have heard said.
Nice rendition for sure, hope it cleans up nicely.I live near the ocean, and have to check my truck every few hours cause the sun can really bake this stuff into the paint.
Now you know why most of us have the WindsuppreSSR. Not just because it's cool but because it also prevents bird droppings from splattering to the inside. That is providing you don't receive a direct hit.
I thought about the WindsupreSSR when I was trying to clean the screen. The splatter would have been easier to clean, with it, instead of the stock one.
