Cars Crushed For Street Racing

Get caught street racing in California and they now take your car and crush it. How is the legal. If you have a lien on it - just tell the bank it's now at the junk yard on it's way to be melted down.

The article says:

Police need a court order to destroy the cars. They must prove that the serial or identification numbers on a vehicle or its parts are removed, altered or destroyed.

If they find stolen parts on a vehicle, that's how they can legally do it. The guy they featured had a stolen transmission in his car.

Why does everyone forget that it is a privilege to be able to have a license and drive. You break the law & kill people you pay the price which also includes paying the lien off on your crushed car because of your stupity....
Innocent people & children are dying by young inexperienced drivers (racers), enoughs-enough!!!.....

the people street racing should be made to pay in a way that gets their attention along with jail time even if there is no one hurt. and they are usually not on the up and up, stolen cars, drugs and alcohol involved. I say take their cars and have people pay to watch and use the money to help the victims and their familes!
