chevy 1500 lowering

Anyone out there drive a late model chevy pick up which they have lowered.I find the late model P/Us all manufacturers sit to high, need to be lowered a touch. If you have one that has been lowered can you offer some advice. I would like to know how much to lower, 2”/4”, 3”/ 5” whether drop spindles or springs are used , how they ride compare to new, cost, or any info you might offer.

Thanks

I've dropped a number of trucks over the years.

Always used the 2/4" drop kit. came with new frt. drop spindles and shackle extensions for the rear.

Haven't done any new Chevy trucks yet (08 n up).

The ride is the same as factory. Didn't change spring rates just position of components.

Thank fuzzy,

I was hoping for info on the late model pick ups. They seem to have become so high lately I’m not sure 2/4 is enough.

how low do you want to go?

do you want to notch the frame?

Ive been lowering those since 1995 (i had a 1990 I lowered in 95) and just need a budget I can dial in a kit for you.

heres my dads truck i did.

Front djm spindles
front belltech swaybar
rear leafs
rear belltech swaybar
front/rear belltech street performance shocks

2/4 drop. truck he speical ordered in end of 1994 5 speed with a 350 and 3.73 posi.

I bought him the wheels 20x8.5 front 275 45 20/20x10 rear 295 45 20. I ended up notching the frame with the belltech notch since it wraps on the top and bottom. He wanted a nice 5 spoke and a fat rear tire so I gave him a early b day present

Thanks Greg, Norcal SS

I have seen a 2/4 drop on 2010 which looked still a little high, but I understand rides like factory and a 4/6 which looked good, but I was told that it could bottom out and the ride wasn’t that good. My main concern is the ride, hoping a 3/5 if they make such a thing, fits the bill. I plan to occasionally haul sheets of plywood but very seldom if ever anything super heavy. I have the factory 20” rims

I have an 97 Ford P/U which I had lowered with just springs/ shocks (Bell Tech} which rides terrible, don’t want to repeat that.

Any advice you have to offer would be appreciated.

i have a 3/4 on my 98 I lowered back in 98 and belltech shocks/springs/rear shackles and hangers and it rides great and have done many customers trucks the same. Main thin in rear you have to use the short bumpstops and in front cut stock bumpstops down or ride is harsh.

Im lost are you looking to lower a 88-98 or a 07 up?

my f150 lowered back in 98 and put the belltech street performacne shocks on it rides great. lowered it with 13 miles on the truck now has 94k miles no issues

heres a customers 07 up.
3/5 drop along with the replica wheels from me

front 3 inch upper/lower a arms so spring rate does not chane and rear is a flip kit with shorter bumpstops and still has more then enough travel.
