Droid
Just got a new Droid (not the "X") - it's a great PDA and it's tied to Verizon Wireless phone service and I've never had a dropped call from Verizon in over 5 years of using them.
Still learning how to make this thing do some things. Sync'ing with Outlook is problematic, but I joined a cell phone forum and they seem to have some ideas.
I'm loving the built-in GPS with voice instruction and all - instant map updates through Google. I can stop carrying my old bulky Garmin Street Pilot on trips.

I do have an Android phone, Hero, by HTC and (surprisingly) on Sprint. Only service that actually works in my podunk community, have tried Verizon, and ATT but since everyone has left analog behind and gone digital, nothing much works until now.
What I love about the Android is its automatic connection to gmail. Add a contact and it uploads to gmail or vice versa...never have to keep track anymore...and what I love about Sprint is the inclusion of web in its base price. What I used to pay Verizon for 4 web connected phones was twice what I pay Sprint for more anytime minutes, earlier nights, and weekends.
Sound like a Sprint commercial??? Don't blame me, blame Crazyrtr53, he sold me on it.

Anybody out there got one?
We have a couple at work - BUT, we are running Lotus Notes. However, we have to run an Outlook product to get notes to sync on the droid. The app is from "Nitrodesk" I believe it's called "Touchdown", they have a 30 day free trial. Might give that a shot.

iPhone4 here and love it. The Droids look cool, but the iPhone links into everything in my house and life. I actually looked at a Droid X last night just to see how it compared and the only thing I found odd about them was the size and feel in the hand. They seem to be pushing the upper limits of size for a cell phone.

Thanks - I'll check on it.
Editing later - I checked on it and it is written for corporate use with an "Exchange" server. Mine is just a personal use instrument.

I have an (probably unreasonable) aversion to all things Mac for years. Actually the heft of the Droid was one of the things I liked.

Not too many pics yet - too busy working on it. But here's the view across the street and the front of the house. It's on an acre. The last project is finishing the inside of the garage. It's a three car. The two car side will be a woodshop and the one car side will be a man cave. Just need to get the ceiling done now. Have insulated it, put in two window A/C units and have panelled the walls. Should be ready to move the rest of my shop stuff over in about a week.

I am so behind. After dropping my Samusung Rouge in the pool a few weeks ago I inherited Dannys old Blackberry Storm (his work keeps him pretty current on phones)
And I thought I was uptown now with my blackberry.

I couldn't figure out my blackberry and went back to a RAZR This X is like a little laptop, posting from it now. It's a big honkin cell phone but I'm blind as a bat so it works for me.
I finally retired my Motorola Razr after all these years have just gotten the Samsung "Galaxy S" android phone. AT&T calls it the "Desire". Powerful little phone with a really crisp 4.3" display. Learning more about it every day. Fortunately, my son is an expert on these and has been my 24/7 tech support..... Bless his little heart. I really do like the way it hooks up to my internet router automatically when at home and offers me whatever internet router is available when I'm out and about.
One thing I've learned is that the GPS feature eats the battery up pretty fast. I've heard that the other brands do too.
All I gotta do now is figure out how to type on a small flat screen with fat fingers.
Mikey

I had no idea what an "app" was, but I have tried a few that the guy at the phone store suggested and they are way cool! The free navigation app blows my Garmin Nuvi out of the water - for one you can speak the address and it pulls it right up, whereas with the Nuvi you have to type in state, city, street#, street, etc. Also there is an option for satellite view instead of map view, so you see where you actually are. It drills down to street level so can see you are at the right building.
I also like Trapster, which uses the navigation system to alert you to speed traps (users add traps they pass, and other users are alerted to them as they approach them). And Pandora is like a free Ipod, you can make your own play lists and it plays as "internet radio". I am having so much fun with this phone I'm sorry I didn't spend more time trying to figure out my Blackberry.

Lots of cool apps for the Droid!
I have a 'Moon phase calendar' - a barcode scanner that will check prices and offer up other locations the product is at and for how much $$$ -
a Biorythmn generator -
a compass -
The US Constitutuion app -
Deskbell is kinda cool, summon up the waiter with a ding ding!!! -
Weather Bug for radar weather images -
GPS status is pretty cool - gives you stats on how many sat's you are getting signals from - elevation and for the Coasters at Magic Mtn, and accelerometer to tell you how many G's your are pulling!
Sky Maps app helps you find the constellations...

Yeah seeing that it's Google based, I snagged a Gmail account just for the Droid... I've tried to move away from Microsoft for home use - wont switch back from Google Chrome as a browser - makes IE look and feel clunky!

I've had a Gmail account for about a year in addition to my Comcast email. I've had problem accessing it directly although the Droid seemed to find it okay. I just have some reservations about putting my 1100 or so contacts up on the web. There are some apps out there that claim to sync the Droid and Outlook, but independent reviews are no so good. Of course, most independent reviews are negative, otherwise you don't spend your time posting them. Still, I'd like to see one or two success stories before I hook one up.

I just got the same phone, working to find out what to do this phone just will take time and a few but it is
I just purchased a droid - Samsung Captivate (ATT) - they are calling it the "Iphone Killer" - whatever...
It's my first smart phone, and I'm suitably impressed. I downloaded an App - called "Key Ring" it allows you to scan all those little cards on your key ring - stores, gas stations, costco, sam's club, etc, and then they can scan at the register. Pretty cool.
The best part, everyone likes the screen size, and colors, etc. I'm still worried about breaking it by sitting on it. No hip cases yet, so I stick in my back pocket, and "try" to remember to remove it before I sit down - but I still sit on it occassionally.
Funny - I couldn't figure out how to answer it (didn't read manual) - so I was not able to answer the first few calls. Had to go to the manual and it was simple - but different from every phone I've ever had...
