10 weeks after heart surgery

10 weeks later and I have have been released to increase the cardio exercise. I've been going to the gym everyday for 30 minutes on the bike. Heart rate is 55 resting and 85 to 95 with the bike.
I'm also trying a few of the strength machines on the upper body. Man, 3 months of sitting on my a$$ has weakened the muscles.
This whole process is tough but is better than it was by a long shot.
LIFE IS GOOD!

Pleased to hear you are back up and running, as they say.

JimBob, good for you. These H/A's are all different. Mine in June had no pain or numbness, just a tightness in my chest....commonly referred to as an "Elephant sitting on your chest"

JUST READ YOUR IN THEARPY...GREAT!!!! I'm in my second month and I've learned more about my heart that text books can provide.....and in laymens terms.

You don't want to exceed your maximum rate which is.....
220-your age, then 70 to80% of that number. For me it equates to controled activity on the treadmill or bike at 112-118 heart rate. Your heart healing and performance is measured by the drop in heart rate from activity to the resting difference five to 8 mnute time period.

When I started that difference was a drop of 10. Now it has increased to 20+. I didn't know any of this, and am glad I went to thearpy, because I've learned how to gauge my activity, and know where real improvement comes from. Good luck with your rehab.

I now belong to the "stent" club......there are a bunch of us around to talk about it,

Don't forget to take your meds......small price to pay for being vertical.

Ed, My resting heart rate is 54 to 62, what does that mean, if anything.

Cool God is Good

JimBob - Had heard you were doing well. God is good and obviously those of us who have been lucky enough to spend time with you are happy with the good news. Hopefully you can join Northern SSR group on a run. If you can do a short run just let me know. Be happy to drive over perhaps to have coffee or lunch or just visit.

Thanks for the good wishes

3months later. All body parts are healed, including the leg incisions. They were slow to heal. I don't think about it all the time now, just thankful to be here.
