Garage Floors
Had mine done with the Epoxy Kit. The paint is lifting in spots. Looks like the painter did not do a good prep job. It has to be redone...but I'm looking for other ideas. Show your garage floor if you did one. Thanks.

I went the epoxy with the specks
Hot tires tended to remove paint , so i went the moto floor route.
Black and white tiles, easy to maintain and quite impressive looking. I also have option to remove them if I move.

we used the epoxy paint from Home Depot, has been down over a year with no problems, I even got break cleaner on it and wiped it up and you can't tell .

X, I put down a two part epoxy from sherwin williams 12 years ago. The only places tht have even tried to come up are where I was doing brake work and got brake fluid on the floor and didn't know it until several days later... two spots about the size of a silver dollar. Has really been durable ..

UCoatIt?
I keep seeing the UCoatIt floor coating advertised on My Classic Car. I see on their website that Jay Leno uses it in his garage too. Has anyone used this particular product? That's the one I'm leaning towards using myself.

Sorry, XSELER8 . . . the fun has just begun.
I applied the Behr Garage and Patio Epoxy about six plus years ago. It looked great for the first year or so and then began to peel and pucker. After a year or so . . . AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. The peeling began under the tires and then spread to at least 50% of the entire floor until it was literally peeling up in quarter size chips.
Finally, the crap was completely stripped and Porcelain Tile profession applied to cover the entire mess and, after a full year, I could not be happier.
garage floor???? I have a garage... but I can barely see the floor with all the crap I have in there.
In regards to U-Coat-it... that's the product I've been planning to go with. It's water based, and you're supposed to dampen the concrete first so the "paint" actually wicks its way into the top layer of the surface. Then you put the gloss sealer over the top when you're done. They also offer the colored flecks too and the paint comes in several colors.
They're located in Birmingham Michigan right on Woodward Ave. I meant to stop by their shop this past summer, but once again, never did. The 2 power tours I participated in I got $50 discount coupons that I never used too (and they expired).

I, with the help of a very detailed (read: "anal") neighbor, followed the directions to the letter and, as I posted earlier, it looked great for a year or so. Not only was the stuff rather expensive, due to the initial preparation and multiple applications, it required more than a week before vehicle ready.
In contrast, the Porcelain Tile was ready for DOOPHUS and BUMMER on the third day and has been perfect ever since.
I also used the kit from home depot over two years ago and it still looks like new but then again the concrete floor was new and never had anything parked on it.

Good point, Wingrider.
In my case the garage floor had lots of stains and a few small cracks after almost twenty years of vehicle traffic which required extra preparation . . . read: work.

Well.. that's the problem with my attached garage too - house built 1973. I may never paint the floor in there, but I really want a real workshop garage, and if I ever get it built, it'll be covered before anything ever goes into it.
I wonder how long you must wait for concrete to cure before ever putting the coatings on?

My Behr two part epoxy still looks like new. And its over 3 weeks old now. Wish this thread had come along sooner and I might have researched things further. It does look real good though with the flecks. My floor was older, some small cracks, some minor oil stains etc.
I am hoping that doing the job right in the first place will pay off. My garage was completely clean including fresh paint ceiling and walls. I vacuumed along edges under drywall and then powerwashed the heck out of it. I took muriatic acid to oil spots with a wire brush. Do not spare on the etching acid which gives a pitted finish for the epoxy to adhere to. I did two coats although it says one should be sufficient. One reason I did that was because I did not mix it as well as the directions said.
I would recommend using a eggbeater mixer on a drill to ensure proper mixing. If having to use more than one kit it would be an idea to mix them all together. Do not remix during the procedure. I wound up with two very different colors by doing this. Hence coat #2.
It is a $300 experiment rather than a $1500 flooring and I have gotten rid of the everpresent dust from an unfinished floor. My cars tend to sit a lot so putting a piece of carpet under the tires I think is a good idea.

H & C Concrete - Shield-Crete.
I feel that my painter did poor or no prep work. The floor had silver paint and looks like he painted over it. NOT GOOD. My buddy DIY his floor....... and it looks great year after year with his wide Vette tires on the floor.

Sounds like you did things correctly.

Thanks XSELER8. That little red "x" in the corner is where a pic was to show up. Every couple of weeks I try to figure that process out. I think resizing is the issue but I was able to download my current Avatar, nothing else since though.
Other notes. The flecks really take the eye away from imperfections in an older floor.
Another product you may look into is Armorpoxy. They claim to be a superior epoxy cover.
