Gina & Dannys Winter Adventure 2008
We are leaving shortly for our 2008 winter adventure. We are leaving a day sooner than expected. The snow is coming in tonight and tomorrow so we are scrambling to get out of here so we dont get trapped here an extra day or so. It is cold.
I was going to start this thread off with pics of the motorhome and all that but with the quick departure no time for that. Danny is hooking up the trailer now with the SSR loaded.
Not sure how far were going tonight with this late departure. Somewhere in SC I'm sure. We just want to get out of the mountains. I'll check in when I next have internet available.

You betcha! The middle of March.
We are spending our first night in Santee, SC.
We have friends here that live at Lake Santee and were camped in there driveway. We got here around 9:30 and ate supper and had a couple of drinks and were just getting to bed. But were not on a schedule until April so it looks like were sleepin in tomorrow.

Great news! That means you can spend an extra night with us in Savannah.

Gina,
Be careful when you go to Paris Island! You might decide you miss the Marine Corps and sign up again. Which SSR are you towing? I bet it's TAZ 2. Friday sounds great. It's cold here but no snow or sleet.

Negative, we spent 3 hours there today and that was enough!!! I have to admit being a civilian there was much easier than being a recruit.
We are in Tybee Island, GA now and freezing our buns off. My Wi-Fi signal sux and I am in the campground office now checking my email. Headed back to the motorhome now and hope to move the computer around and get a better signal.

Yep, this is going to take a while. But we have been running for 2 days so were kicking back tonight.
We went to Parris Island, SC today. That is the east coast Marine Corps Recruit Training Station. I was there in 1981 as a recruit. I had always wanted to go back later as a civilian and see it in another light. We were there about 3 hours and had lunch on the base and toured the museum. We also rode by the parade deck where the graudation ceremonies take place and saw some recruits out there praticing there marching. What an eerie feeling it was.
We left there and came on to Tybee Island, GA where were staying for 2 days. Went out for oysters and crab tonight. Were meeting MDCSSR tomorrow (he lives in Savannah, 13 miles away) for some fanatic fellowship and then on to St. Augustine, FL for 3 nights.
